Jason, we got pretty much killed the whole trip outside of these two hunts. Someone or more like an army of someones beat us to the birds, except for this little spot. To raise you one on the impressive level, we had some guys shooting probably 1 1/2 miles south of us the second day. Now I, in my delusional state told Paul that it was probably just duck hunters but if that was duck hunters they killed a BUNCH of quacks that morning. This spot just had more common crows than fish crows.

Dale, sounds like you have some folks in this area that, unfortunately for you, like to chase the black birds. It is hard to keep up with what the competition is doing...or has done. I always try to make friends with them when possible. They might not tell you where they plan to hunt in the future but they might give a hint as to where they have been. That has saved me some fruitless “double hunted” area days in the field for sure.
Oh, they get into orchards also. They are just much harder to kill. Consider yourself lucky to not have to deal with the little bastards. It is very rare that you shoot one in that area, inside 50 yards.

One more thing, and I will shut up about fish crows. Think of a common crow as a lumbering B12 heavy bomber and a fish crow as F-18 fighter jet approaching your set up. The bomber (common crow) is gonna come in nice and easy and give you a good line and let you pick the shot you want. Now a F-18 (fish crow) is gonna be cagey, move very erratic and not gonna give you a good line on him, plus they will come in 50 at a time and usually their first pass will be the closest one, if he is a dumb fish crow that will be 50 yards, so you better get him on his first pass or they will just circle over your position out of gun range and make you wish you had an anti-aircraft gun. I should of showed a common crow next to a fish crow in a video, we killed a couple that where not much bigger than a dang starling.

Dale's comparison of the B12 VRS. THE F-18 for the fish crows is spot on. Several times they would circle above us out of range and gathering more and more until we would just turn the caller off so they would leave. They also make a distinct sound that reminds me of an old volkswagon slug bug horn. Dale would probably agree that a guy should get two clicks on the clicker per each fish crow due to their difficulties. I don't know how Demi manages them in his neck of the country.
It one thing to get a “clubhouse double” on crows, but you took it to a totally different level when you got it on video!!! Paul will be no doubt be enshrined into the crow hunter’s hall of fame for that proven shot! Way to go!!👍👍

Dale and Paul your videos are superb. Great set up's. Looks like some fine shooting too. What do you guys average for a % of kills vs. shots? You make it look easy
nh. You said the same thing that I tell my partner quite often. ( You make it look easy ) All I can tell you about my % is that when Dale tells me he's reached 100 birds I'm happy if my clicker reads 75. Then I know I'M doing good.
Pete, glad you enjoy the videos, sometimes I think it is way more trouble than it’s worth but comments like yours keep me doing it.
As far as my kill percentage on any of the hunts this year, I have not kept up with shell spent vs kills. I would guess in the two days at that orchard I shot between 65 and 70% and that might be stretching it. I did keep track last year on several hunts and I was consistently shooting around 75%. That was with birds that where way less call shy and I wasn’t taking a crap load of real long shots.

Spectacular shoot.....by the way where does one get a blind like those? The ones in your videos? Around here after a fashion the fall trees become leafless......and there's obviously no cover anymore....
My goodness.. I enjoyed every minute..every shot.. wonderful "crow presentations"... and LOVED the line of pecan trees funneling the birds to you!!! FINE TBC.. guys!! Now can I ask where you get those blinds?

Randy, You do pay attention to the details, glad to see you're back. I was beginning to get a little concerned. A little colder weather & some more snow in your neck of the woods & you'll have to visit the golf course again. lol. Paul.
I just haven't taken the time to check in the last few weeks. We've been after 'em but our hunts have been pretty nondescript and photos have been the same. I do have a couple stories to share along with hunt reports.
You and Dale look like you've been having some fun. Keep it up.
Do a search on this site for FF5 or FF6. I'm certain a link has been posted for Flightline decoys. You'll find there's been some good discussion about them in the last year or so.
