The Great Ammo and Component Shortage of 2021

It's hitting home for a few folks as one poster on a crow hunting Facebook page posted yesterday, "How I am supposed to shoot crows when I can't find ammunition"?  I think this shortage is much worse than previous shortages as this affects everything not just powder, 22 and assault rifle ammo. Some day it will end but who knows when, a year, two years? Are you prepared to ride it out or will you have to sit on the couch when the season opens this fall.

This is one of the latest scams since Ole'Blowbama when it started around then during that scandalous criminal regime when-why-we won't take your guns-we won't have to-no ammo -no guns theoretically in other words....they didn't say that of course but did they have to? We are not blind! So people bought lots of different firearms but ammo was restricted because people caught this this flu and panicked staying home believing that we were in danger of dying from this flu that has a new name  every 6 weeks or when ever it's time for a name change......businesses of  every nature closing or slowing down including shipping and they tried closing down firearms dealers too!!!

Neat scam huh if you hate guns? Who'd have thought  a virus scam could shut down  nations or commerce? Well that is what is going on in my view. The only way to stop it is ignore it because no one is going to arrest you for working or keeping your  production facilities open......but people sure don't have the spirit of George Washington long ago lost to the history books....DC   has the communications and people are easily intimidated so.....and the government doesn't really want anyone having firearms....andf-again-no ammunition-no firearms!

As a competitive shooter who buys ammo by the pallet, this hits home!  Fortunately I probably have enough on hand to last this year, but practice sessions will be minimized.

There are several factors that have created this “perfect storm” but most predict the results will be with us for at least nine months.  I’ve also been told that the Biden administration is trying to stop imports of ammo components that, if true, will compound things further.

Here is a link to a long discussion that has lots of good information...facts, not scare tactic.

 Hi NH,

Price increases and shortages are a fact of life. It also feels to me like there's a push to stop the manufacture of shells loaded with lead, in favor of inferior steel. So when I found inexpensive shells I bought them. I won't be sitting on the couch for several years.

My partner re-loads and is getting low on one brand of primers.

To answer the question about shooting crows if you can't find shells, I say you should have bought shells when you had the chance. If a young guy can only buy a box when he can afford it, I feel for him, I've been there. I also learned from it.

In the end, supply and demand will even out.

Regardless of whatever circumstances led to this, politics, new gun owners, covid production interruptions it's all related to just one thing, the business practice of "Just In Time" production which leaves warehouses empty and no shock absorber for sudden upticks in demand.
