New used ten gauge Browning I just had to have.....

Well these are somewhat rare so I had about bought all the fire arms for the year 2020 having gotten out of the rehab center/nursing home after suffering a back bone problem a "deviated" something or another I all but staggered into the firearms dealership slightly bent over and began looking around....I checked out these ten gauge shotguns largely as I didn't have one. I knew nothing of the expensive ammunition typically  ten gauge or else I might not have bothered...there were two here one a Browning pump all black and about half the price of the camouflaged semi above it ....oh well on lay away it went but my still hurting back initially had me wait on that idea...how could I carry it afield? when I felt better I did the aforementioned because -well-why not? Still unaware of the higher priced ten gauge ammunition. I knew it wouldn't be a crow shotgun at that point but still maybe a goose gun or turkey even though I really don't hunt those species...! But I could buy one so therefore I did. All that what with all the posted properties I encountered largely thanks to new owners- the older farmers retiring and selling out. The camouflaged one was cool at least and I could say "I have one" so bragging rights I guess: "The man who has everything idea" I suppose for me buying firearms and the one I didn't have. And so it goes; we are all alike in that respect. I am sure we all did it over what ever it was at some point in time what ever it was. I have purchased other fire arms just to have one of that type of what ever it was. And at the time an affordable 1911 most going at $800.00 up...Colts still being a bit high in my league(generally about $1500.00 used) but Turkey sold America a  clone that is perfectly adequate at $400.00- even Hickok45 liked it. Even though these "instant background checks" are running a week or so to complete!

In any case the ammo prices weren't bad for a ten gauge but I lucked out. (Not $55.00 a box I'll tell you that much)   I just go buy a box about once a month or so-not terribly painful even though I won't shoot it that much anyways but a once in a whiles blue moon gun.....so hardly ever shot....but so it goes. Nothing wrong with a little fun. If I were more serious about it I would learn about reloading. But I don't reload anymore-I used to reload twelve gauge. Something given what I have been reading a lot of us will be doing again-unless Uncle Joe gets his way. And with  the mid terms coming up and the losses in the US House enough to get the Demeroids attention; the enthusiasm might not be there too much to gouge gun owners some more...but Uncle Joe is not terrible astute in these matters even though I believe the  politicians are chosen not really "elected". Or should I say "yes men"? We'll see in any case. Stay tuned!

Have you shot the 10ga BPS yet?  You are going to find the recoil to be considerable and most likely unpleasant.  I hunted with one for awhile and after 12 to 15 shots with Federal 1 5/8 ounce steel at 1350 fps my shoulder was sore and I had enough.  If you are not a goose hunter or pass shooting ducks and I don't know what you are going to do with it.  Now that I am older I did not want to deal with the recoil so I sold mine and bought a Remington SP-10, about a pound and half heavier but with the extra weight and gas action I can shoot it comfortably as much as I want.   Rogers Sporting Goods had a good sale last fall, Federal steel 1 1/2 ounce at 1450 fps for $239.99 a case shipped to your door.  The big 10 will take down ducks and geese with authority at ranges I would normally not shoot. You said you don't hunt geese or turkey so I guess I will end by saying congrats on your new dust collector.

The Browning Gold 10 is a nice gun from everything I read. There is a standard and lightweight version. The gun is made in limited production runs and they are not always easy to find.  I have seen a number of people report ejection and cycling problems with some brands of ammo.  It's a better choice than the BPS but it's a specialty gun for specialties you don't do so what is the point? Do you belong to some social groups where you have bragging rights about having a big gun? What's it got to do with crow hunting, you know what this page is about? On the plus side I doubt you will lose much if any money as supplies are limited and there is a demand.

I was only trying to be funny but your coments are funnier so it was a win win for me.....I belong to  no  "social groups" so if I am "bragging" I don't have much of an audience.....besides -okay-I'll say it...I saw way more crows last year than I actually shot at..I believed sooner or later I would run into that one great flock (I did actually) but it was inaccessible believe it or not; just like that big group up north...look but don't touch.....it is one of if not the most "liberal" areas of the state!

Yes of course I will take out that ten sooner or later maybe try water fowling again after all these years...you must know that gun from your commentary? Because that is the one  all camouflaged and all that which I did not do preferring  one of those socks  I like to use: slip it on slip it off....! (It came that way though)

Another item: I don't hang out with any  gun owners except to talk briefly with the ones at the gun shop meaning for me the dealers.  I try not to say what I am looking for so I can restrain the urge to buy yet another "toy".....I never saw so many Canadas as I have last couple of years and now that land is posted too by the way also just happened to be heavy duty on crows too although probably nothing like you two saw last year but I saw a lot but I couldn't do anything about it except note their numbers..so you folks out there  who got the numbers and a place to shoot remember you only live once so get them while you can! Besides Sleepy Joe is coming for your fire arms! Probably with Beta at the helm! Mr."Hell Yes!"...remember that?!

These people are not going to  the Crips neighborhood to take their guns they are coming for yours!

Well you have the cutting edge on loads for the crow so why not come here and talk about my ten?  Besides I thought I was being funny? No

biggy....everyone of us have different points of view and humor....I hope I was  poking a little humor at myself? I like that  comment about a "specialty gun" Very true indeed! The "point"? Sure when I point it at that turkey this spring or possibly that mallard in October? Thanks again for your advice!
