My First post. I started crow hunting 3 years ago. I started by reading crow busters to learn as much as i could, and still check it out on a regular basis. I'm located in Southeastern Illinois and hunt primarily in a 2 county area where i have located a couple roost that supply some decent shooting. Every year i have learned valuable lesson and this year some of it has started to pay off. First couple years hunts would consist of 10-20 birds/ hunt and this year my numbers went up to 35-50 birds with a couple of 100 bird hunts. Biggest struggle this year was hitting the flight line. I would scout and be set right where the flightline was the previous day only to watch them fly out of call range, happened on a couple of hunts that should have been 100+ hunts. Frustrating. Our season is now over till next fall, so off season starts next week starts for me. Ammo has finally starting to show again around here and i intend to do a lot of shooting this summer to improve my kill %, will keep watching crows fly and look to find other areas to hunt. I also hope to figure out how to post pictures for everybody next year. Now that i crow hunt it dosen't seem to matter where i go there is always a crow watching me, does this happen to others also? thanks
Haha! Welcome Jack. Yes, they have always been watching us- you just realize now... And we watch them! I was parked in the parking lot at a Dollar General talking on the phone when all of the sudden BANG something hit my hood. I got out of the car in time to see a crow flying off. On my hood was a large rib bone. Still not sure if that crow just dropped his dinner or was trying to send a message. I took up skeet shooting just in case. Glad to have you on-board!
We never never stop learning and even after good hunts, I always ask myself what could've been done better. Don't feel alone on the predictability of those evening flights. We've missed them plenty of times.
MSRob is right, they've always been watching. And I'll bet every time you're outside, you're scouting crows.
Get that picture thing figured out. It's not that hard, even I can do it.

Welcome to the club!! The one thing that has been constant for me is that I always have to keep learning year after year and keep trying new things. Sounds like the hunting is good in IL. I hunt in Ky and TN. I recently moved to Louisville so all my old hunting spots are to far to drive. This is the first year I haven't hunted. I have full time work, full time school and a 16 month old so I have had zero time to go knocking on doors and find new places. Man I am jealous of your hunts though!!
Welcome to the forum and good luck in gathering intel during the off season. Crows watching you...I'm convinced they recognize my pickup truck and plot how to seek revenge every time they see me! Love it.

Welcome aboard Jack! Hunting crows can be as frustrating as shovelling water at times 😂Learning curve will be fast if you follow this forum. Most are very giving of information other than secret hunting spots. Quite an addiction hunting the bandits is I must say. Probably because many times the crows are coming in on attack as opposed to flying off in terror like most gamebirds.😉
