Second attempt
(Preview)
I want to thank everyone here for sharing their experiences so that I have some knowledge of what I need to do. Well first time out, no decoys and I was pretty much skunked as I saw one bird off in the distance but that was it. Finally got out a second time with a few decoys and I got a taste of why this could b...

Home-Made Plywood Decoy Project - Improvement: Crow on a Stick
(Preview)
Last two times out this season, which were also the first two times out, I placed myself in what I thought were pretty cool locations. However, I found myself restricted in decoy placement because the soybeans are planted pretty tight, leaving not too much excess space. You'd think these farmers wou...

Crow Flyway Locations and Dates
(Preview)
Hello folks. I haven't been hunting/killing crows for very long, and I have a very basic question. I know that there are probably a "scad" of articles and scientific studies about crow migrations, routes, dates, etc., but I can get a faster, more accurate, and concise answer from the fo...

Kids With Crows
(Preview)
Shooting some crows here now as the bandits are ganging up for fall. Several small roosts within 15 minutes of home keep my shooting skills honed. No great numbers but enough to keep my attention. Took my son Sam and his 14 year old cousin Seth out for a quick evening shoot. Seth has never been on a hunt bef...

Opening Day in SW MI
(Preview)
Really nice opening day. Modest statistics: 3 confirmed, 2 possibles. Possibles because I wasn’t about to walk into drippy wet soybeans to find them. I have a special photo for M12 Shooter (Ted), as he steered me toward an interest in ancient pump shotguns and finally, I was able to take mine out tod...

Hasn't been a lot going on here on the Forum in a couple of days. Just thought I'd let everybody know that there are only 12 days and a wake-up until Michigan crow season 2014 #2 (1 AUG - 30 SEP). Sure glad I bought a couple hundred extra generic 12 ga., prior to the current ammo insanity. Go get em'!

September 1st can't get here quick enough.
(Preview)
Just to let you all in on a little secret. Instead of using the boat just for fishing try crow hunting out of it. I call it shoot and roll. Shoot a little bit then roll up the river. I hunt the great Ohio and have never ran out of crows. It's even fun to shoot the pigeons underneath the bridges.

I know the middle of summer isn't really the best time to hunt but I still wouldn't mind getting some running and gunning in! Here in Ohio the season starts back up June 1st, and I know I'm not the only one ready to get out there and bust some more birds!
