Abbey's first Crow Hunt
Permalink

Hello Gentleman,
I've been out of the game for awhile but I got to take my 13 year old daughter on her first crow hunt last Saturday.   She did very well getting 4 outright and combining with me to bring down a couple of others.   Not a lot of targets but we had a lot of fun.

For you guys that like the details...

Location - NW PA
Blind - Standing Corn
Setup - Feeding with about 20 flocked decoys mix of GHG and others
Calls - Electonic and hand calls...really didn't use either much, just let the decoys do the work
Weapons - Benelli SBE 12 ga  for me choked Modified, Beretta 390 20ga choked skeet for Abbey.   We were shooting Remington Gun Club loads in #8.

Pictures not real good...but she does have a smile on her face.

Great to see young people (especially females) enjoying the sport.  Congrats on the great hunt and the memories you made.

Good job HH, a day in the field with the youngsters and a dozen dead bandits is time well spent!

Cro,

I live in Canonsburg and work in Southpointe.  Spend a lot of time down in West Alexander/W. Finley township.

Thanks.  I have three daughters...two that shoot/hunt.  Abbey shoots trap and likes shotguning better, older daughter prefers deer/rifle hunting.   I have enjoyed a lot of great times afield with both of them...and hope to enjoy many more.

Hi HH,

Good to see you and yours back out after them.  We have been a 100 plus degrees for the last several days and not much relief is in sight here in north Texas.

Abbey's fun crow hunting start might create a life long addiction!

Take care,

GB,
Always great to hear from you.  I've not had much time to hunt this year but hope to get out another time or two.   I can tell you right now...the truck won't be leaving the driveway without Abbey, if she could drive she would be scouting for our next spot already.  She really liked it...it was a lot of fun to watch and once she got the hang of it, I was relgated to clean up duty on each bunch that came in. biggrin

Looking forward your posts when TCP forms up and takes it to the field.

Take Care,

HH
