I am just curious how often, how much and what kind of target shooting everyone does during the off season. For me it is 3000+ clay pigeons annually on a mix of sporting clays, modern skeet, skeet and trap.
Well you got me beat in the practice department I shot skeet to get the feel of wing shooting when I started hunting crows seeins how it was the first wingshooting I have taken up. Then I shoot sporting clays a few times a year this I think is better than skeet cause you get some real crowlike targets at various ranges

I have 2 bird dogs and 2 labs, if I am not out sooting ducks or upland birds I'm chasing crows,when the seasons over I'm at the gun club. in excess all total maybe 7-10,000 shells. Signed, Going Broke!!

I shoot anything that fly's. Lot's of crows and pigeons, even blackbirds and grackles. Load 7/8 oz, #9 shot international 12 ga. loads for them) Ducks and upland birds in the fall when all the crows have departed. Round of two of trap weekly, spring and fall.

NOT NEARLY ENOUGH, I can't afford that much ammo. I usually only shoot when crow or dove hunting. There is no range close either. I don't have anybody who will shoot with me, so that's boring also.

C'mon, boring was my best line. I'll have to try and find someplace to shoot. There might be one within 60 miles. I enjoy shooting clays, maybe I'll save and buy a good thrower.

My son and I have shot a little over 300 pigeons, 200 starlings and a grackle mixed in now and again. It is less boring for him to shoot at live birds than the clays. Dont get me wrong I have to drag him away kicking and screaming no matter what he shoots, but I believe that the pigeons have really put him on his game. I have watched him develop into a respectable wing shooter and pigeons are perfect training tools. Starlings are just as good and harder to pop!!!!

I just bought a new Urika 2 Beretta in 12 gauge, thats the third one I own; two Urikas and one Urika 2. I just had to shoot it so I took it to the local gun club which I had not shot on in years. I broke 22 off the 16 yard line in trap, then a 22 and a 21 shooting skeet. It was pretty breezy that day and even the fellas who shoot all the time were not going straight that day. It was a great reunion seeing all the guys I used to shoot with and even some new guys whom I got to meet.

That is good shooting Bob. The comraderie and good natured ribbing among friends makes it fun. I much prefer crow hunting to shooting clays myself but clays shooting is nice way to spend time in the off season and I think it helps to make one or keep one a good shot.
I shoot as often as I can, but not as often as I should. I believe there is no substitute for shooting a live flight bird. We hunt chuckars, grouse, wood**** and pheasants over my Brittany from end of september through march. Even though it is not anything like shooting crows it is still wingshooting and a whole lot of funnot to mention great table fair!
