HI MEN, I was off line last week I went up to Maine bear hunting.I didn't see anything till Thursday nite,a small150 or so came in so I figured I would stick him with my Mathews Drenaline Bow,As I watched him from 25 yds away 20' up in the tree all of a sudden after5 mins in the heavy bushes he SCREWED! I knew it wasn't me Then all I could hear is crashing and I could see a black thing rushing in, a bear I said making that much noise? NO way- A ----ing COW MOOSE! rite under me,well that ruined that nite! Friday nite TOO windy I felt like I was in my tuna tower in a 6' sea! Saturday nite calm perfect conditions, baits have been devoured and I decided to use my 280 on the last nite, getting dark 6:45 and I hear a bear off to my side, all of a sudden I get a glimpse and gone? What I said? 2 seconds lata 6 coyotes start yipping rite beside me and I couldn't see a one to blast,MAN was I PISSED!! Twice in one week getting spooked and it never happened before! JUST A TOUGH LUCK HUNT!

That sounds like a few bear hunts I have had. I used to hunt out of Millanocket and the Allegase. My dad and I got some nice bears in 1980 up there.Kudos to you for using a bow!!

Too bad about your bear hunt Hizzoner but you did get to see some neat stuff...which is a big part of hunting and the outdoors IMO.
You should be up here as we have a bear behind every tree this year. One even poked it's nose into my crow blind a few weeks ago...scared the heck outa me!
Attatched a pic of a sow and three cubs not ten mins. form my home...not a very good photo though as it was almost dark.
