Norway, Magpies are common birds here in Western Canada mostly on the agricultural landscape. Ours look identical to the specimens depicted in your photos. I shoot a good number each season.

Hello again.

Yesterday I shot this HUGE crow on my baitpile.
This is one of the biggest I have shot in my "career."
It was eating some old bread on my baitpile, with 6 more crows.

It was shot with my old .22 Brno Mod.2, ammo CCI Stinger Hollowpoint.
As you can see from the exit-wound, this is a scary powerful bullet!

Interesting color shades on this bird. You are right about the round!

This must be getting close to the oldest "active" thread on this site... Almost 6 years old!

The photography has noticably improved! Keep the reports coming.

I agree with Demi. I always enjoy hearing from our friends in Norway.

Cheers,

I went out to my parents farm this afternoon.
I have an active baitpile there, for fox hunting.

There were ALOT of magpies going crazy over the baitpile this afternoon. So I could not resist...
I shot one quick with the Brno .22 , then for some reason the rest of his buddy's got crazy. Flying around the baitpile making noise.
So I reloaded the .22 and got another. Its the first time I've shot 2 of them in a couple minutes. Good day!

Good shooting NN!! Two down with more that know about the bait pile.

Maybe your magpies are like our crows. When they see a dead or wounded brethren, they rally around them squawking and circling. It can be a real frenzy (and an opportunity to bag a couple more birds).

Keep up the pressure!

Hello again. :)

A friend of the family came by the farm today.
We were standing outside the house talking when we heard some magpies making noise in the trees by the baitpile.
He grabbed my brothers shotgun and a #5 and got one of the bandits!
