AA 7 1/2s & AA 8s I have a 28 reloader, but I was shooting factory loads. Not a lot of selection out there & I'm afraid if I load 6s it will be like shooting them with a bb gun. I was just playing around with it yesterday, I'll just stick with the 12 or 20. Even the couple I knocked down needed a 2nd shot to kill them, just not enough punch. Like I said it was humbling, big difference from the 12, lets ya know real fast ur not as good as you think, fun though & real nice to carry. It was the 1st time I carried the 28 in a couple of years.
I took my wife's 20 gauge youth model charles daly semi, that was fun but I think I will stick with the als 2100 in 12 gauge. It performed well and was fun but I want to use the same gun all the time.

yeah, I play around to much changing guns, but I like to shoot all of them. It's fun using them all, & I guess thats what it's all about. Nice brit, I miss mine
I whacked a crow Saturday before last with a 28 gauge using a AA Skeet load, probably of early 70's vintage. It reminded me of using a .410 on various occasions in terms of lethality. I know it is much more effective than a .410 and one crow isn't a good sample.
It was simply an effort to complete my "crow slam" - .410 bore, 20 gauge, 16 gauge, 12 gauge and 10 gauge - joined by the 28 gauge to take crows with all of the "common" American shotgun shells. This is a first for the Texas Crow Patrol.
I must say a full choked 16 gauge worked very well on crows and when you get below 20 gauge, you are giving up range.

I think a 16 gauge is under-rated, they work well on all types of game. I would love to find 16 semi and start using it. I'll be watching the gun shows and sporting goods stores for one and buy it if the price is right.

I sold a browning sweet 16 a couple of years ago, big mistake, even had a poly=choke on it. What I have now in 16 is an old stevens 311 sxs, that I've had since I was a kid. Seems to be getiing easier to get shells than it was a few years ago. Watch-em I checked that website, guys got some beautiful dogs. Doe he do springers too or are those liver colored Brits ?
I would shoot my 28 a lot more if the shells were cheaper. Sometimes I run across a closeout deal at wally world and buy everyone they have. I really like a 3/4 oz load of #8 shot for a 28 with a light modified choke.
