Russ, I use 8 plus an owl sometimes, I noticed a big dif after I flocked them. Can't help you on the handcall I use a Johnny Stewart e-caller

I started with six dekes and it worked till I could get more, Faulk C-50 and any of the hand calls on Crow Mart. smile

I started out with only 6 deeks and had some good results, however before I would buy anymore to make a dozen or whatever I would have to say that a motion type decoy like the buster II is the ticket and can be found at www.crowmart.com ol buster has produced some nice results with bringing the crows in alot closer for swarming and swooping effects for closer shots for me + I think it makes your spread look more realistic to the crows eye.

As for a hand call I am really overly impressed with my Faulk C-50 as I took shanedogs advise on that call awhile back,along with a foxpro Ecaller in which you can't go wrong with that as a start!

anyone using the mojo crow ? is the buster a flapper or are they different ?

Shaddart, the BusterII is a flapper type decoy,you can view a small video of it in action on the crowmart website, the mojo decoy has the wings that just turn on the body.My opinion I like the more realistic flapper type and plus the flapper is only half the cost of the mojo.

I have the FX3, I use it for coyote and bobcat hunting.

It's kinda like duck hunting. Sometimes you need just a couple and sometimes you need a couple of dozen.

I like to have at least 6 or 8 hanging in trees, another 6 or so on the ground and at least 3 motion decoys in the mix.

I really like GHG flocked crow decoys. They are tough and look great. I wish they made the loop to hang them with bigger and better.

I use the Flambeus for tree sentries,the post on the bottom is great for retrieving later on,you take your crow pole and slide a cheap plastic funnel on,and there you go,you center on the post and push up and the deke unhooks nice. My Green Heads and my Carrilite's are strickly ground pounders.Make sure you cut the big ass feet and crap off the bottom of your Carry Lites,it will make them easy to put in the bag and be quicker for deployment. smile

Hi 22guy,

Welcome aboard... As stated above by Shane and others, the GreenHead Gear are excellent for ground deployment. I think 6 will be sufficient to start and as you drop crows into your spread its effectiveness will grow. Also as Kevin and CroHopper mentioned, adding some motion such as a Buster II will certainly improve your stand results and are a must have where legal. Lastly, the Flambeau's are great for hanging in trees.

And I would expect very good reliable performance from your FoxPro, but a nice handcall from CrowMart is a smart investment for the beginning or experienced crow hunter.

Hi Shaddart,

As far as Mojo's, we have 4 (2 first gen and 2 second gen - smaller, higher rpm wings) and while they work, we believe "flapping" decoy action is superior. Mojo's are a "spin wing" design.
