Hey guys I have been learning a lot from the forum and have been having a blast hunting the last few weeks.
I have been working on my wingshooting and have been improving a bunch, but I have been having a really hard time hitting crows that are flying straight towards me. I can hit the ones that are swooping or diving that seem like hard shots but the ones that are flying straight toward me I miss everytime!
Give me some tips on what I might be doing wrong.....I dont think they are out of range but I dont really know how to aim on those type of shots.
If they are real close and true strait at you cover them with the barrel. That's right the barrel not the bead go shoot station 8 high house at a skeet field. That will help you. Try that you want to lead the bird so covering the bird with the barrel does that. Keep the gun moving. At least that's how I do it.

I agree with JD. I actually LOVE the straight at you shot. Most of the time they are coming in slow and Watch Em and I call them "floaters". JD's right on the money...cover them with your barrel and slap the trigger. I'll take that shot over the ones flying away from me or a crossing shot any day..haha
Keep at it... in a short amount of time you'll want that straigt at you shot all the time.
You are either raising you're head (just a tad) off the comb as you touch off the shot which will make you shoot over the top of the bird for a miss; or your pulling up through the bird and still shooting over the top of them.
If you have ever shot trap with a regular field gun that does not shoot a little high to begin with then you will see where I'm coming from here. All the targets are rising as they leave the trap house. So a fella has to find that special point inwhich to hold his muzzle inorder to get set for the shot. With a field gun I try to get the shot off as the birds get to the top of the arc as they are rising. If you hold you're muzzle to low before the bird comes out of the trap you have a tendency to pull up through the bird and shoot right over it.
Now you might say whats this got to do with me I'm shooting birds coming right at me not going away from me? It's the same shot only in reverse!
If you can get on a regulation skeet field stand on station # 7 and just have high houses thrown! Get on a practice field so even if you have to shoot a whole box of ammo on station # 7 you can without holding anyone up. It will not take long before you figure it out, also ask if an instructor can watch you, it will be money well spent!
