Went out Saturday morning with my two usual hunting partners to a piece of public land my one friend said he had seen crows flying through on his way to work. We set up our decoys at sunrise and settled into the tree line. We had multiple groups fly through but most were not interested in our calm calling but we were able to bring them in with the foxpro crow fight and using the dying crow after the first shots were fired as a comeback call. It was a very good morning hunt for us in our area.
I have been using my 16 gauge recently and love it on crows, 7.5 rem game loads no problem on high flyers. Anyone else use the 16?
My dad has an old 870 that's a 16 ga. He loves it.
I don't like it because he has a hard time finding cartridges and when he does they're expensive, so he doesn't shoot as often as he should. Occasionally I talk him into using my old 12 gauge, then he shoots a lot using my shells.
I get my 16 ammo at Wally World for $5.99 a box. I have also found it at "Ricks" for $6.99, 6 and 7.5 low brass. High brass costs twice as much and patterns worse out of my 11-48.
I shoot my 16 stevens sxs from time to time. Got a good deal at Dicks sporting goods on remington 6s. Seems that it's getting easier to find 16s than it was a few years ago.
dicks in Albany ny has had a lot of them the last 3 yrs, mostly 4s & 6s, but they had a few boxes of 7 1/2s this year. They have quite a lot them, which is nice to see. None at wally world. I think it comes down to the store buyer & the buyer at Dicks must have a 16
Thems cool pics with the birds and all... Them Fellers, are wearing duck hunting outfits,,, reckon they might hunt ducks as well? I think those 16 gauge guns are sweet but finding shells can be a pain sometimes as you stated.. I bought a 12 gauge shot gun and will post pics once I kill some dang birds.. it looks like a daw gone stick... not like the other ones I been use too....I shoot alota clays every week but as you know that dont taste like clay. The color of my shootin stick is the same color of that one fellers pants, corn stalk kinda lookin like. Thems some cool Pick and thank you Sir fer shairing.
Ducks, you are perceptive. I am a wing and predator hunter by heart. Here are a few pics for you. First a pic from November, Bluebills and teal on a hunt up north. Second a pic from this mornings hunt, foxpro and buster do it again!
Tks for the pic looks like everyone had an ear to ear grin on their face,,, its days like that you dont need to Pick up all that [packing Styrofoam] off your roof and yard,
I almost forgot while reading until my eyes bleed lastnight I took a pic and up loaded it.. this is my shootin stick I was yapin about.. well one of them
Black Duck, PM me and maybe we can hook up for a hunt. Fur and ducks will be ending next month, after that I will be back to crows until the season ends. I know you are not too far from me.
