Chip,

Wonderful detailed pictures of your setup. In the 5th pic, is that decoy like a kite that stays elevated in the wind?

Yes it is a jack kite, I hang it on my sentry pole with about 6 feet of premium fishing line and a good swivel. biggrin It is an awsome confidence decoy and it works best in winds from 1 to 8 mph. Its a killerfurious

I think it only works if you use photobucket.  The built in uploader automatically puts the images at the bottom like that.

I'd like to try one of those Jack kites!

Maybe thats how my college boy set me up, Anyway Shanedog got me hooked on the kite. It is amazing how it hovers over your spread. Any wind above 10 mph and it starts dipping and diviing and spinning.  The longer your lead the less it will act up. Here is the number to order one they are enexpensive and work like a charm.

757-426-5359 Order the black bird assembled. I remember when I got my first one, I kind of laghed at it til I seen how well it flew and looked. When you get it I will tell you the best way to hook it to your hanger, Believe me I have tried everyway possible. I expieremented with the thing forever til I found right combo. I dont see a web site on the brochure. I think they are about 10 bucks delivered.

$10.95 for the kite (unassembled) and $11.95 for shipping.

i woulda got one if the shipping was reasonable.  I mean, how much could a bird kite weigh?

sheesh.

Chip tell us a little more about this kite setup...How tall is your centry pole and what does your hanger look like that you attach the fishing line to for this kite to fly?
I find these kinda huntin toys pretty interesting like I need more stuff to pack out to the blind, oh well anything to crank up the crows I'm game. biggrin

Cro the set up is real simple. My Sentry hanger is a Golf ball retriever that extends out to about 20 feet. I add a 12 foot piece of bamboo on the bottom and use it to hang my sentry's.  After that I drive a steel stake in the ground at an angle and slide my  fully extended pole which is hollow on the bottom over the stake. I have a fishing swivel attached to the end of my pole. My fishing  line is tied to my kite approximately 5 feet of premium line.( I use P-Line thats what I fish with). I hook it to the pole thus I have my kite about 30 feet in the air hovering over my spread. The swivel keeps the line from twisting and she fllies pretty straight. If the wind is very strong I dont fly the kite cause it will make some weird moves that somtimes I think flares the birds on approach.  Usually they are to close for it to matterbiggrin but somtimes the wind is just too much. I dont remeber paying as much as Jon said it is. I can't imagine paying more for shipping than the price of the bird. If I did I'm glad cause I have killed a lot of birds with it flying , currently I am at 771 birds dead, I wanted to reach my 1000 goal before christmas, but the weather has slowed me down and pushed my birds south, There is a warming trend on the way and I have some more birds foundwink

Chip,

How come you use the four wheeler? The four wheel drive pickup should get you just about any place you want to go.

For those looking for the Jackite black bird at a reasonable price, go to the following link. They sell it for 12 bucks and some change, and shipping was only 4.00 to Illinois. I imagine shipping could vary slightly from state to state, but will probably be close to that. Here.....
