In my experience as a crow hunter (which is only just over a year and a half), I have noticed that the crow hunting seems to be the best in the morning, and then after about 1 they disappear Does anyone have any strategies they use for afternoon hunts or tips that could help me and my hunting group?

I didn't mean to imply that we stop trying after 1. It just seems like the bird activity slows down, and I was wondering what you guys do to bring it back in the pm hours.

Depending how far you are from where they roost will determine how long the afternoon shoot will last. For example, if you are hunting 5 miles from the roost you're shooting will start anywhere from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and end anywhere from a half hour to a full hour before sundown.
If you are within one mile of the roost you're shooting won't start until 3 or 4 in the afternoon and will run until almost dark outside.
On a good afternoon flyway shoot you can shoot one heck of a bunch of crows in a matter of a couple of hours!
So far this season the morning hunts have been much better than the afternoon hunts; but this is not always the case. I've had afternoon flyway shoots that ran into the hundreds.

don't know why, but for the last 3 or 4 weeks, I've been doing best between 11 & 2:30. Only been out a couple of times at 1st light & only saw a few birds.
Does anyone have any strategies they use for afternoon hunts or tips that could help me and my hunting group?
