i was wondering if those were decoys in the treetops of your pictures. if so can u tell me how u put them up there so perfectly. lol i always want mine spaced out like that. i climb the trees but its rough on me (exceed the weight limit usually). i can never get far enough out on the branch either. this weekend i was gonna try tying the decoys to fishing line & pulling them up with a fishing pole. lol thanks

Hello Kev,

Our season runs from November 10th to February 10th, 7 days a week. Thats the only time any amount of crows are in the state since all are migrants out of Canada.

Hello Jared,

For field hunts I have been using Crows Come Here by Johnny Stewart, Crows, by Fox Pro, Come Here Call, by Bob Aronsohn and The Recognition Call, by Bob Aronsohn.

For fighting type setups I use The Crow & Owl Fight by Johnny Stewart, The fighting Call by Bob Aronsohn sold through Fox Pro. The Mourning Call by Bob Aronsohn. The Excited Crow Call by Bob Aronsohn. Death Cry of a Crow by Johnny Stewart. I use the Death Cry on low volume on field hunts.

just curious if the birds in the large tree behind your blind-in the 2011 photos- are "live" birds waiting to meet their maker or are those Decoys? if they are dec.s how do you get them up there???and thankz 4 all your great tips and advice u "give" to everyone. its nice to have experts like yourself that are willing to (pass it on)

Those are my crow decoys in the tree.

I use an extension pole to get them up and take them down.

In you're avitar photo, are those crows? If so, how come so many people in the photo?

You have a nice looking yellow lab, does he retrieve crows with the same zest he has for waterfowl?

hunting crows the way we do, is a very young sport in Germany. Most hunters just pop an occasional crow while hunting for other game. Therefore there are just a handful considered crow hunting fanatics who compare notes on the internet via the forum of the ”Wild und Hund“, the most important national German hunting magazine. The avatar picture was taken this summer when those crow hunters first met in Bavaria. That´s why there are so many peoble in the photo.

Dexter is not only very accustomed to retrieving crows - he loves it.

Hello Ralf,

Do you use electronic game callers to call the crows or do you use a hand held call that you use with you're mouth?

How did you find out about Crow Busters when you're from Bavaria? I'd like to visit Bavaria, it's very pretty country.

If you and you're friends would like to see some crow hunting action on dvd then go to the crow buster store, it's called Crow Mart, look under educational material for the dvd's on crow shooting. I'd check first to make sure an American dvd will play in a German dvd player.

Hi Ralf,

Great photo's and Dexter is a handsome hound. I have a Rottweiler mix - Auggie -and he is good on squirrels but tenative on crows - a drop a few with my RWS 52 air rifle for him.

I have to agree with Bob A. that your country is beautiful. If you ever get over her to the States, plan a visit with the Texas Crow Patrol. We can put an Anschutz .22 Hornet on your shoulder so you won't get homesick and then a "Metro Gun" (www.Metrogun.com) for a completely new crow hunting experience.

Hi Bob,

electronic game callers are not allowed for any kind of hunting in Germany. I use different types of hand held calls, most of all Sam´s Crow call: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCx7XGkuLfk
It´s a crow call especially for european crows. It sounds deeper than most of the other calls.

I´m not from Bavaria - just visited it last summer to meet the other crow hunters. I live in Northrhine -Westphalia, straight at the border to the Netherlands.

skogman- do u have a special FEEDING call for the crows when u bring them in for Jagerschitzel & Kartoffelsalat? meine mutter was born in Schonlein,W.Germany . i think thats somewhere near Amberg. we used the Google Map satellites to zoom in on her old house that she grew up in over there.first time she has seen it in 40+ yrs. it was pretty amazing for her,since we are all the way in Johnson City,TN.i will have to go back and check that satellite image and see if the trees are full of CROWS. Gut Schuss!!!! (hope that means good shooting)

In that case you have to shout out "MAHLZEIT" very loud. wink

Everybody in Germany knows that it´s time for the lunchbreak when one hears "Mahlzeit" - so do of course the german crows. wink
