getting this call for my birthday along with the "crow 1" card, anyone ever use it? how did it work?

i got 1 very similiar to that. mines the wireless preymaster. it has its ups & downs. the buttons on the remote always seems tricky to push. & uses only exspensive lithium batteries(always carry extra). others cheap ones wont turn it on. but dont get me wrong i do love it. theres no way i could have as much fun as i do without the electronic caller. i can call in predators with a hand caller but they see me when i go to shoot. & i cannot for the life of me call in crows as good as the "come here call" for crows. also for coyotes the "rat distress" is great in a field & after u shoot u can bring the others back with the "coyote pup distress". oh yeah the "hawk & crow" 1 is really good at bringing in red tail hawks. cant shoot them but they look real cool plus u called them in. good luck & happy birthday

I have a cousin that bought one and now he waits for me to bring my foxpro. I remember hunting with that unit and the biggest problem was the wire. Somebody was always tripping on it. If it is in the budget to add to your gift I would get a wireless remote unit. If not, get it. Unless you are a good hand caller that unit will bring up your bird count.

okay thanks guys, i dont think i will run the unit out on the wire, but rather, keep the wire rapped up and keep the whole unit in a bag or case and just leave it next to me while calling.

dave,

If you are setting deeks in the field, run the wire out to the spread. Otherwise they will look to the sound and pick you up easier.

oh okay, thanks mike, sorry for seeming "green" at this, we hunted casually for a few years but really want to get into it now and am just trying to take in as much as possible.

I have the same call, wired not wireless. I run mine on regular aa batteries & I'm always pleased at how long they last. I just bought the crow 2 & 3 cards, just to have some different sounds. I'm really very pleased with the call, especially for the price. Jerry
