thanks......yes, I haven't camo'd the camera yet and its in a nice shiny waterproof case, had nothing to do with the fact that we chose not to use a blind..and I say that because I have used my ghillie to great effect.. insert shiny object on forhead and harvard grad birds and you get tail shots..still, only a couple survived to tell the tale.

Awesome Video! I do videography as side work and have done video on lots of my hunts. It is a challenge to run a camera and capture the footage you captured. It's not easy when you're dealing with all of the other factors of the hunt.
AND....any hunt with your dad is always good memories. My best memories are deer hunting with my dad. I'm going to try and convince him to get out in the zero degree weather for our crow opener on the 1st of FEB.
Again...great video... You pounded some birds.
In my opinion you were hidden well in that pocket....Birds always cut and turn when they see A SHINY CAMERA.... or when they see you pull up....
Great POST!
Brian

It's not the size of your kill. Its the memories that mean the most
I agree with Ted and Brian, very nice video work and good shooting. Please record and share more footage on your future hunts. Your new "hat cam" is a great addition to your hunting gear.
Outstanding!!! Great video and ever better memories!!! Nothing like hunting with the generations. I wish I could have done more with my dad. I take my kids every chance I get.

Splash One: Loved...your mouth calling. It was excellent. I really like the "exictement" in your calls.. clearly the crows did too. You need not make any apology for your calling. I do agree with others, your gang was not quite hidden well enough...regardless of the shiny camera. Crows that flare... see something they do not like.
Thanks for the kind words guys!!!! The best part about hunting with my father, is hunting with my father.
@Skip - Thanks for being nice about the calling LOL.. sometimes I run away at the ... call... I do agree that the crows saw something they didn't like, and from past experiences with my ghillie and standing in my decoy spread in full 360 view of crows just for fun, I can tell you it was the camera that made them weary.
Sorry I missed you while you were out here in TX. I would have really liked to talk your ear off on the subject of hand calls. I would also like to send you one, or two, or three.. in return for your feedback. PM me your mailing info if you are game.

@ Crowbusters- I know when it comes to blinds there are die hard builders, and those that choose to just jump in a bush. I fall somewhere in the middle, but could make the argument to the die hards, that anyone wearing camo in a blind isn't building a good enough blind and is in someway still allowing themselves to be seen.
What you don't see on the vid is that a couple of those birds had made passes that didn't give a proper shot for my father.. being that I was 20 feet or more from the Ecaller I was easily singled out because I was calling so hard. Normally this is not a problem, because even though the crows can pick me out, they .....so far... have not been able to associate my ghillie suit with danger.. Now ... adding a shiny moving object (that tracked them) with sound pin pointing my location was a dead giveaway; and compared to looking like a human shaped bush I'm sure a shiny moving object gave more reason for concern.
The crows shown on this video are SUPER educated...not by myself (I could write a book as to why not, but will skip that for now) but by dove, deer, and duck hunters that frequent the land lease I hunt. Just this year someone relocated a roost that was on my lease.
Now I say they busted me, but only to a certain extent, because.. although it doesn't look like it on the video.. the farthest decoy in the spread was roughly only 25 yards from the shooter. Yes they flared at the last minute.. but several where damn near in our face, all the while looking at ME.. these Harvard grad crows felt safe enough to get close enough to get killed, that has to say something positive about the way we chose to hide from them...
Again, I totally understand the need for blinds, but since I've started wearing a ghillie it's just not the top of my priority list anymore.. camo'ing that dag-on camera is. LOL
I will be filming again this weekend with a camo'd camera.... stay tuned.

I agree with Skip no need to apologize for the hand calling! The birds seemed to think it sounded just right, great video thanks for sharing it with us. I think birds flare out of instinct as well as seeing something out of place.Especially if they have been hunted at all they are jumpy and nervous all the time. If they were as easy to hunt as everyone who has never hunted them thinks, they would all be fertilizer.LOL

Great vid man. I been wanting to video some myself. Durring duck season I videoed my son kill his first green head. But if he doesnt go with us I want to shoot birds not film. I would love to have one of those cameras that goes on your head. Ps your pop shoots like me hits the tough ones and then the give me shot comes along and he shoots empty, I do that all the time. Thats funny but thats what its all about havin fun. Great job.
