i always wondered about the holes in the top of my decoys. lol they have spikes on the bottom so i always stickem in the ground. i like the engineering of tools people come up with for crowhunting. i will add urs to my arsenal as well.

Couple narrations that I thought were important

1. the whole hanger needs to be long like that so when taking the crow down, you don't fight the tree limb or the actual decoy when trying to get to the "funnel hook".

2. I know the wire looks flimsy, and it is, but the wire is plenty strong enough to keep the decoy in the tree. Now in the event you can't get the decoy hooked up..you can always rip it out of the tree, then re-bend the hanger.

I use a similar system. What I do is cut a clothes hanger. The hook is already on it, One long "arm" with a folded back portion to put through the eyelet on the back of the crow, the other arm is used to place/retrieve from tree branches. I use an extending golf ball retriever. Has a reach of 12 feet plus 7 from the ground (I'm 5'8" but my arms can reach 7 foot)= about a 19 foot high reach. Clothes hanger wire is fairly heavy gauge.

I also use clothes hangers for my deeks. I cut 'em so that I can bend the "hook" part of the wire around the wing tips, thus keeping them from flopping around and tangling in the bag, or having to take them off each time. Folded under the wings this way, they go into and out of the mesh deek bag without hanging up.

Also, I use one of Avery's decoy retriever sticks to hang my deeks and my owl. It reaches 18 feet, when added to the 9-foot-five that I can reach, gets em up there pretty high.

The only downside of the Avery 18 foot stick is, it's a little flimsy at the tip, especially with my owl deek (a Victor, which weighs a few pounds). It takes a little practice to hang deeks, but after a few times of putting em up and down, it's easy.

Love this site. I haven't been out for crows for a few weeks, due to the heavy snow around here. Total bird count so far is 117 since Nov. 1. I shoot a Baikal 153 and Fiocchi ounce and a quarter 6s.

yeah i like the extra piece in the middle to grab onto.ive just been using a small 'Y'shaped fork at the end of my stick and it is very akward trying to get back on the hook at the top when takin em' back down.

I use a few 17' telescoping poles.. for decoy deployment and also for flapping dekes. I have one decoy I use for RnG... it has about 50' of cord on it.. I chuck the decoy as high in a tree as I can , then tie it off to the tree's trunk.

I actually have one decoy that has a swivel on it so it can change directions and move when hung in the tree. Work great as long as the wind isnt too strong... other wise it just spins in circles.

I've got a few other crow hunting mods Ive done to my gear... since the response has been so positive I will try to get them on video as soon as this stinkin snow goes away.
