Sure do. But last week was the first time I didn't take her - she's starting to have a hard time getting around. The last couple of weeks all she does is take a few steps then lays down.

Broke my heart to be out there without her. Stood one stand then went home. Couldn't take it.

Sometimes I take Weasie, my Jack Russell that is in my avatar photo. I don't need her to hunt crows, but it sure is fun to watch her sprint out and tackle a wounded crow on the ground! :)  You should see the feathers fly......biggrin

Always. Going is as much for the dog as it is for me.

It's especially fun if I can set up where the crows mostly fall in the river.

Jon:

My hearts out to you and your Chloe!  I have two myself.

Gadget Bob graciously let me try the dynamic duo on a pecan orchard hunt years back.  My theory was that two black dogs ripping up downed crows would be at least interesting and might even be an attraction.

They are undisciplined hunters (my fault) and made of motion.  The crows stayed high but the few that we did bring down were met at earth's end by at least one and usually two black, toothed locomotives.   They also literally brought down a hopper-turned flyer that Bob had hit.

At morning's end, there were no canine injuries.  And no surviving corvids.

Last week when we were visited by snow, I was out with the Girls cutting trail in the neighborhood by 0530.  If I could carry a shotgun in the metroplex we could have walked to Ft. Worth.

Here's a pic of one of my hounds sporting a pair of "Doggles"!  That exercise lasted all of two seconds.

This is a photo from last summer. It's my father, (he'll be 73 this summer) and my terrier Weasel. Dad knocked the crow down in the river bed, Weasel tackled it before it got away.evileye

This is Weasel hanging onto a duck she retrieved. If I tell her to "drop it," she will, but I like to reward her with the little game of jump and grab.biggrin (It's a little blurry because she's shaking her head at the time.)
