If it's new for $ 550.00 you better buy it! The model 390 is a good one, I tried one for the first time in Argentina shooting doves back in the early 1990's. You can feed them anything and they will shoot! Very tough semi auto!

Bob, with your seal of approval I'm on my way back to the store to buy it. Would you recommend 26" or 28" barrel?
I'm looking for a new crow gun and now I found it. Thanks
PS- I tried your mourning call the other day. Man does that turn them and bring them in close.

Jump on it! I like a 26 too but a 390 is a lite gun that feels kinda like a benelli and they balance fine with a 28" barrel. Chose whichever one you like the best. Most gunsmiths will tell you that the gas system on the 390 is simpler, more reliable and easier to clean than the 391. Thats gonna be the next gun I buy for my 12 year old son next season so I can pass his youth model down to little bro. You cant go wrong with a 390.

A SUPER 90 and a crow in range, life is good. A good sandwich and bag of M&Ms doesnt hurt either.
Well I bought the gun today. It is not the expensive one rather the model they sell at Sports Authority or Dicks. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It seems when the action is locked open, something inside moves if I point the gun up then down. It sounds like the piston, does this sound normal?
Next it does not have a spring loaded fore end cap, unless it is locked and I am not opening it correctly but it does not sit flush with the forend stock. Does this sound right?
Does anyone have any experience with this model? Again its the version that you can get in the stores above or even Wal-Mart.
BA I have a Franchi 620,I am pretty sure Berreta owns all of ,Benelli,Franchi,Ubertti and Stoeger. My Franchi does the same thing with the bolt open,the piston free floats forward,not a problem as far I am concerned,I do not stalk with an unloaded gun with the bolt open,so nothing to worry about. Does your manual tell you to flip the piston for heavy shells versus,light shells? I absolutly love this shotgun it has killed a ton of crows and pigeons. Not sure I understand your second issue,maybe post a pic. the Berreta's are a great shotgun,I am sure you will love decroying with your 390!!

So it seems like the noise is common for this gun when the action is opened. After a little patterning at the range, I was able to get the end cap to seat flush with the forend. Now the good stuff;
Brand new gun first seven shots, seven dead birds. What a difference it makes when the gun actually fits. I was presented with every type of shot possible and the gun handled great. Too bad we only have 2 more weeks in the season.
