Just got this photo from PP - he tore my Savage .223 down and rebuilt it from the inside out, and camo'd it for me...

Thanks Pup!  I can't wait to take it out!

Great looking rig!!! smile  That scope looks like the Center Point 4 x 16,great scope for short money,I have three of them.I have been experimenting with a Night optics scope, and its working pretty good, not for the coyotes though.biggrin
P.S. What are you using for a load in the Savage?

Kudos to Puppy for the trick job!!!!!

Hi JTP,

Real pretty gun from PP...  I beleive in camo'd equipment to minimize your "signature" afield.

Hi Shane,

I use Benchmark in my .223 with the 55 grain VMAX.  The new more streamlined 53 grain VMAX appears to be an improvement and I plan to test it soon.  I beleive the Hornady VMAX's across the board offer exceptional accuracy with explosion terminal results.

Most of my buddies use Varget in there .223's and have very good results with it.  I like Varget in my .22-250, .308, .30-40 Krag and .17 Remington.  It is a great all around varmint powder.

The new Superformance powder apparently works great in .22-250's but is too slow for .223's.

Regards,

Gadget Bob

The bigger question is what did you do to it besides camo?
Lap the lugs ?lap barrel to receiver? Lap scope rings? Re crown ?
Bed the barrel? Etc.....

O yeah nice rig. Nice paint is it Krylon?

Work done, full lap job, trigger, custom pillar blocks, claying of action, inlaying forearm, floating barrel, full balance of stock.

Just some simple minor work oh and paint job.

HaHa...well said Dog.

I live in PA and it's open all year round...but there are some other messed up rules/regs here.  No motorized decoys for crows, gotta plug your shotgun, etc.

On a yote note... what do you use for calling?  I would assume that Mass. is about as "open" as PA.  Definitely not like out "west".  I have been yote hunting in Kansas three times and they just come running but have only called 1 yote in PA in 5 years.  I don't hunt them super serious...but have put some time in.  We started off using nothing but mouth calls..now we have a Spitfire.  Any suggestions? (calling, sounds, set up).

Thanks,

Hammer

I would love to help you, better to just get on the phone,I will PM you my number.
But the short answer is that I "hard call " coyotes meaning I get close to thier core area and blast them with coyote vocals, this triggers a territorial response that they can not resist, they get so mad that they do not go down wind, they come straight to the call, its a rush when your working dogs that are vocalizing while they come in!!nod.gif

I use a rabbit squealer. I've got a TT howler, but can't seem to get the hang of the single reed.

PP's the man with a howler. He called this one in for me several years back...

He's the one to ask the howling questions

Nice. I just got a book on doing it all your self.
Nice build.
You started with the most accurate right out of the box. Savage mmmmmm if I was to buy another gun I would look no further than them.

Nice rigs guys!!For coyotes, lite, simple, functional and bullet proof is what you need, like Dave and Jons rigs.
Here is my rig.Remmy R-15 (Bushmaster) I refinished the trigger and did some minor stuff on it,and I have some nifty assesories, this rifle has put a bunch of dogs down. Now I know you purest may not like the AR,but for me up here its what is needed,I hunt alone most of the time, and I tend to get a lot of doubles in,I also have handicapped hands so not having to work the bolt it a plus,in the middle of a callin.  Here it is in all its configurations.  The first picture, the wound is an exit,I hit him behind the left shoulder,he was quatering to me.Coyotes are tough, real tough, hit them good or plan on tracking.

Hi Dust, how you been??  I have been thinking about getting a bigbore air rifle this spring.
American Defense makes both mounts, for the Scope and the Hollow Site. Great people and the stuff holds zero, trust me my AR will see three optics changes in a day,I have little marks on the top rail for each optic, pop it on and go!!! Its quality
stuff and ultri lite. The scope is a 2.5 to 10 50mm Nikon, illuminated reticle, great scope.

This is my varmint rifle. (Need to get it camoed)

It's a Bushmaster XM15-E2S  I handload for it with 50 gr. Nosler ballistic tips over 24 grains of IMR3031. Very accurate. Off of sandbags, can put a 3 shot group at a 100 yards that you can cover with a dime.

Just added the Harris Bipod. The scope that is on it is a 2.5-10X

That is basically the same as my R-15,BushMaster makes the the R-15 for Remington because Remington owns them. They shoot great and are lite.smile

Did Remington move the Bushmaster factory or are they still built in Windham, Maine?
