Yes they are, they are offering a high volume shoot in the pecan orchards, a double can't compete for rate of fire with a repeater which they mentioned, plus easier reloading in tight quarters. I probably would still use a fine American classic double gun because I find it safisfying.
Not trying to put the guide down or offend him, I don't know him, but you brought it up. I am going to venture a educated guess that his clients are average shooters at best, and that's fine. Their ability to hit there mark consistently has been blamed on the size of the shot.

One of the old members by the name of Drew Moore went on a guided crow hunt with Jerry Tomlin. Him & his friend (at that time) had the largest shoot Jerry ever had, this was back in the mid to late 1990's. They shot 134 crows out of this one orchard and when they were all picking up there emptys Jerry comes to find out they were using 7 1/2's and 8's in trap loads. True story!
