Got out today from 6:15 til 1:30. It was raining to start things off and after lunch the sun came out which made for an increase in crow activity.
Here is the view from the blind- I had about 10 different single birds come in quiet and try to set down when the call wasn't going.
after I dumped the first crow I put the spitfire off in the bushes with the owl deke. I had about 3 singles take offense to this setup. Only one of them made it out alive though.
the blind- somewhat cozy, rather lacking in overhead cover right now though.
and what would a thread be without the TBC pic? USELESS. LOL
I had 4 birds that, after taking fire, attempted to escape over the border to the safety of New Hampshire but ended up ditching in the river. No attempts at rescue were made due to safety concerns...... so TBC was 21 for the day

NICE!! That looks like a great location for some crow whacking. Got to love being out on a river. Is that something on the feathers of the bird in the bottom row or is that a partial piebald?

not a piebald. I got very excited when I picked him up but when I looked at the underside of the feather it was black. It looks like bird poop but I can't figure out how a crow could poop on the topside of his own tailfeathers.
Funny you should mention my choice of firearm chip. I actually brought out my 870 with a full choke and a box of #6 shells. (Not joking guys and please lets not go there) Anyway the point is I went back to the truck and swapped out shotguns because the 870 felt like I was shouldering and swinging a 2x10. I really had no idea how great my MAXUS was until yesterday. I see that you like yours as well! lol
I agree! I shot a 870 for many years and switched to a Maxus this spring...awesome gun! Light and reliable.. Only problem I have with it is that i tend to get carried away and take another shot when they are out of range.
Stunner, I run into the same problem. Although I did actually get one that I would have let go if I had been using the pump. Dumped him on my fifth shot and he sailed right down into the river.
