Way to go Wingmaster. My season starts monday (april 25th) and I'm just itching to get out there. Last year I missed filling my second tag for the first time in three years as I was holding out for my 13 year old son to bag his first but with school and his social life there is only so much time, but that's okay any time spent afield with the lad is all I need. Here's hoping I can post a pic of the first one soon. Of course I'd love to show some pics. of my crow hunts but the harvest has been meager at best. But hey practice makes perfect so i think I'll head out tomorrow and see what I can do.

Here in PA the youth season comes in this Saturday. I'm hoping either my 7 or 9 year old son will come out. I've been scouting and hearing birds and saw a longbeard with some hens this morning. If they aren't game...my 13 year old nephew will be. I just want to call one in for them. Neither of them have ever shot one. I called in 3 gobblers a few years ago for my then 11 year old nephew and he missed them at 15 yards. I wasn't even dissappointed (he was though). It was just awesome to call that many gobblers in. Our regular season opens the following Saturday (30th) and runs through Memorial Day. We have to buy a second tag if we want to shoot a second bird (costs $20). I have a lot of people I call for...so I don't bother getting the 2nd tag. Good luck to all the turkey hunters (BE SAFE!) Hammer

PH,

I went for your final sunday a week a half ago and crows were scarce, but turkeys galore. Depending how next week goes here, I have the option to hop back over the river. I already have your licence. Here, my turkey is $21 extra for one.

27,

Yeah, Watch Em Fall and I went out on Sat/Sun (9th/10th)..the two last days of the season and we only got 6 birds I think. They were scarce and wouldn't come to the calling.  BUT..like you said...I heard gobblers everywhere.  One of these years I'm gonna do some out of state hunting.  I heard that in Virginia/West Virginia you can get 3 birds in one state and 2 in the other.  Costs like $140 to hunt though.  Would be a fun week to take off.

Good luck if you make it to the Keystone State.

Hammer
