Hello Hizz,

My pool game needs a lot of work so I play the game for 8 months until crow season comes back in. One of the drills I do for muscle memory on short draw shots is to make a circle of billiard balls (360 degrees) in the center of the table. The circle is approx 15 inches in dia. (inside the circle) and you place the cue ball right in the middle of the circle. You can shoot any ball you want into any pocket you want, but, the cue ball can not leave the circle. I love the game and try my best to get better as each year passes.

As your skill level goes up you begin to see things on the table that a lesser skilled person would not see. Experience helps wheather it's hunting crows or trying to make all the balls disappear off the pool table.

Nice stuff..I really like the fact that you have bolt open to "show clear."

Your right Mark!!  I dont care how careful we are, we can always do better, especially at the range.smile I have little orange chamber flags for my AR-15's that you insert and let the bolt forward, you can see that the flag is in and know that a  round can not be chambered. smile

Thank you!! I was a little worried I might sound like a preacher.. I am guilty of of some unsafe practices from time to time.. My hunting partner is like a watch dog.. Always watching and saying safety, safety, etc...He will exit the blind without the action open..He's a good influence on me and others..

It is impossible to be too safe handling a firearm. Action open when not in use should be standard practice. However one firearm safety rule trumps all others, control of the muzzle. If muzzle control is maintained 100% of the time injury or death by accidental discharge will not happen. CTM is the first rule of safety taught in Hunter Education. Almost everyone practices it when picking up a firearm, it is a conditioned response, we think about checking a gun to see if it's loaded but muzzle control is instinctive to anyone trained properly.

I preach to my kids it is just a matter of time before you have an accidental discharge. I have seen it happen to police range instructors. It can and probably will happen to you if it hasn't already. It is not a matter of if, but when. I know very few seasoned shooter that have not had it happen to them. I am guilty as well. It is a very effective teacher if it doesn't kill you. Muzzle control is All Important.
