Ticketable offenses in the photo include use of the blind, mouth calls, and lead shot. Decoys and e-callers are also prohibited. Hunting crows on a depradation permit is regulated by US Fish & Wildlife Service regardless of what state you are in. Some of the rules are covered right here on Crowbusters, the requirement for non-toxic shot for shooting crows on depradation permits went into effect this past January.

Why even have a depred program,if those are the rules,I bet you will have to fire a "warning shot" also!!! If you all have not figured it out yet,the Gubmint wants you out of buisness.Then you will need to collect a check from them every month,and eventually you will have to vote the way they want you to.......  Seems we fought a revolution against this type of tyranny before,when will we wake up!!!

Shane, technically warning shots vis a vis bird bombs is required because the law requires non lethal control methods be tried before lethal methods of control are used.

and as you can see from the portion of the Code of Federal Regulations cited on the Crowbusters link not only is the use of a blind illegal so would the wearing of camoflage clothing.

3) Permittees may not use blinds, pits, or other means of concealment, decoys, duck calls, or other devices to lure or entice birds within gun range.

Here in Mississippi, you can hunt under a fed depred or a state animal control permit. The fed thing is a pain. The state animal control program is a no hold barred program that allows for the use of common sense items like lead, decs, callers, etc. When hunting nuisance animals. We got the run around before finally figuring this out and by that time it was too late to do any good.

Fed permit or state permit the federal laws would still apply as crows are migratory birds under federal law. Federal law trumps state law otherwise states would be free to ignore all kinds of things related to hunting migratory birds such as non-toxic shot mandates, 3 shot plug, number of days of a season and so on. The federal law sets the framework for how state's use depradation permits, although your state agency officers may not enforce them, a USFWS agent could.

Depradation permit hunting is essentially a trap, landowners are issued permits but many wildlife agenies don't publish any special regulations that apply. The federal rules make it tough to find a situation where you could kill a crow.
