Took a little drive yesterday afternoon. Young are out of the nest now and squalling for attention. Dusted three crows and missed two. Next time out I'll post a bit of "crowzac" for the many of us that require such.

Here it is just loading shells and shooting clays. I have shot at least once per week since the close of season in Feb. Some weeks we shoot several times.
I am headed up to North Mississippi in the morning to pick up 660 lbs of 7 1/2 and 8's for clay busting and will be getting another 300+ lbs of 6's shortly for crow season. I plan on feeding them a steady diet of 1 1/8 oz of 6's this year.
By the end of last season I was shooting 50 percent on live birds. I have worked really hard this off season weighting and balancing / fitting my guns and practicing. I have purchased two MEC progressive reloaders in 20 and 12 so we are building loads and shooting a lot. I hope to be able to shoot 60+ percent this season and I think I can with as much instruction and practice as I have been receiving. While I am up there picking up shot, I will be shooting with a champion trap shooter who has been helping me with reloading and a little gun instruction. Maybe I won't embarrass myself. It will be the second time I have shot trap. I normally shoot sporting clays.
Wish me luck.

Shot two rounds of trap. Was working with the kids the first round so I have no idea how many I broke. Second round broke 21 of 25 and that was with a borrowed gun. The kids shot well also. Noah, age 9, and Savannah, age 12, had a couple of 5 in a rows each. Was very pleased with them. Had a great time and once again received great instruction.

I like a good solid hit! Bob has a pic of one with a hole through its body where the shot string and wad passed through it. His buddy Dick is holding it up and you can see through it. Cool pic.

Hey 8 what kind of wad do you use when you load those sixes. I bought some estate 6's last year and found my kill ratio better than the 7 1/2's. But the 6's did not pattern near as well as the 7 1/2's. I'm confident it was the remington wad verses the estate federal wad. Gotta give it to Remington on that one. That power piston is unbeatable.
Long story, but the short version is: From a vehicle / rifle shot / 22-250 / 50 gr Vmax / ~ 110 yards / ~ 30' up in the top of a tree.. He was facing me and I shot him in the left side of his chest.. Needlessly to say he wasn't expecting it. : ).. After the shot, I looked for 15-20 minutes for that bird.. I finally looked up in the tree and found the remains that you now see stuck along a branch..
I took the camera back to Target and got a better one..
Don't know what wad yet but have been playing with WINAA12, Fed 12S3, and Rems Fig 8. I believe the Estates are a straight wall made by Fed so they could be similar to the 12S series or they may be the two piece cup and wad like the 4 pack Fed's. If they are the two piece, my experience is they do not pattern as well as the 1 piece wad column.
Been shooting a lot of 12S0 for light duty loads like skeet and close sporting clays and five stand. They break clays well at close ranges but not at the longer shots. I plan to work up some sporting clay and trap loads with the 7 1/2's and then sub the 6's for crows. I will match the speed of the practice loads which will be in the 1200 - 1250 fps range. I may need to change powder and wad but I am planning to start with a straight substitution of the 6's for the 7 1/2's to start with and see how they pattern. I will keep you posted.

8 I beleive if you can work up a 1200 with the sixes and the figure 8 remington you might just have the money there!!!!! I have prooven Bob A's point time and time again. I get more kills with sixes but a lot less knock downs. Keep in mind I am stretching my shots with the turkey choke. I get a lot more knock downs with the 7 1/2's. And I'm talking about birds that are not gonna fly off. I guess it boils down to numbers. This season I have not set a goal for myself. I'm just gonna hunt. An adjustment from 1200 to 1250 is not noticable for the average trap or sporting clay shooter, But when your shots are from 55 to 70 yards it makes a difference. Obviously skeet is different, shots under 20 or 30 yards there are adjustments to be made. I guess I'm gonna have to get back into reloading. Clinton being elected forced me to sell all my stuff. If George W could have done 3 terms maybe components would have gotten back to affordible prices. We are in so much trouble with the economy now nobody cares or ever will. If you stick with the sixes and slow them down enough you will find a money load My opinion with all this hyper velocity crap is gonna ruin these kids. My son wants the new Remington Hypersonics. Now I a Remington man but I refuse to buy them for him. How can you learn to shoot if you never have to lead nothing for cryin out loud!!!!!!!
