These are some of the old shells from my collection. I collected back in the early 80's. The large single shell is an 8 guage rifled slug. Some of these boxes were purchased with ration stamps during world war II. These boxes are all in top shape and the shells will still shoot believe it or not. I'm sure the powder in em is corrosive. I have some bullets from the 1870's and 1880's. The pistol was taken of of an Italian officer during the invasion of Sicaly. The holster is the holster that he had on his belt, When my dad took it. Story goes the officer put up no resistancebiggrin I have the original photo's that dad took with a camera of Mussalini hanging by his heels in the town square. He started that campaign from Omaha beach. I had to throw a shot of the pistol in there, For some reason I've been feeling a little Military minded lately!!!biggrinbiggrinbiggrin Enjoy AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!

Hi Chip,

You have a very nice collection.

I have all except for your Peters High Velocity shell box. When were the Federal Monarks made?

Bob I would have to research it to be sure, the best I can recall the monark trap loads as well as the monarks with the duck on the front are early to mid fifties. I dont think they changed the logo til they went to plastic in the early to mid 60's. All the boxes in the pic are full of shells, except the 410 box. The peters high velocity are my pride and joy. The man I got them from was born in 1899, close friend of the family. He died in 93 and was a market hunter prior to all the game laws and hunted  ducks and geese until the 40's. I believe the peters were from the early 40's. I have duplicates of most all the boxes. I have 6 of the peters.

Hi Chip,

Some of those guys made a good living market hunting in those days.

Here in kansas they used to have a .10 cent bounty on every crow you shot during the 1930's and 40's. Back in those days a guy was working for a dollar a day! Many old timers who are long gone by now used to tell me they made a living shooting crows in those days. If you knew any of the farmers or ranchers out here they would give you ammo free because they got it for free from the U.S. Government in those days. Talk about a sweet deal, free ammo plus you got paid to do it!

Say hi to Dylan for me.

I have a box of the WESTERN Super-X and a box of the Remington Extra long Range. Neither is full, but maybe 8-12 rounds in each.

That Peters box in photo number 2 with Mallard Drake on it is fantastic! I love to see those old rounds and boxes, thanks for posting.

I quit collecting in the early 80's. I recently struck gold in a friends garage and it has rekindled my fire for collecting these old shells. I had no idea that they are worth what they are. I used to trade them like kids trading marbles. Not any morebiggrinbiggrin

Could you give us an example of what some of them are worth?

I would love to know what they are worth also. I have alot of that old ammo, like in your pic. Several old hunters have given me their old ammo stashes.

Check out EBay under shotshell boxes. No loaded ammo, just MT cartons.

Guy's I just googled Old shotgunshell prices. I found several sites and all kinds of different prices. Some places will buy anything you have, half empty or torn boxes. If you have a peters box with a red head on the front in mint condition I have seen them going for $375.00 a box.
