CWF , was oh so gracious enough to let me try out his Wad Wizard Choke and to give me a little education on the style that I shoot and how to figure things out.
OH AND DID IT !!!!
Now we tried the Benelli SBE I , the Beretta Extrema II and the Baikal MP-153 . The SBE had the Wad Wizard Supreme , Extrema had factory choke .702 and the Baikal had a Kicks .705.
First thing, Shooting Point of Aim @ 30 yards.
Done with my crow load, Winchester Hunters #6
I was kind of happy with it. We did another just to make sure it was not a fluke.
Here is what we tried with my crow loads. #6's at 30
Kicks , Ok but any thing passed 30 it was breaking up with holes
Beretta .702 did a little better but still had holes
Wad Wizard just filled it all in.
( aint nothing going to fly through that )
#7 1/2 snap shot @ 40 yards
So then we figured that we would try some Dove shooting at 40 with some 7 1/2's.
I mean 7 1/2's with 1 oz, come on.
Kicks don't like 7 1/2's and 40 yards.
Beretta we hit the target.
Wizard did pretty good.
Granted we did push the limits of the load.
( the paper lists #6, its wrong it was a 7 1/2)
#4 steel @ 40 yards
Then we went to steel. Wins HV's #4's All I can say is that I don't think a dragon fly could have made it through that. I'll take a 40 all day. Now I can't wait to get some Hevi-shot to try.
BB's @ 40 ( pulled shot, fire ants )
And last we went to 40 with some Rio BB's. Now under stand that I did not see the fire ants that were on the ground . I think with all the shooting we steered them up. The Kicks did OK , the Beretta did better, but I pulled the shot with the WW but the group of shot was tighter than the other two. Even though in the picture shows it was a pulled left shot, the pattern was tighter than the other two.
All the shots taken were from 30 and 40 yards, simply because that is what the range is for 80 % of my shooting. Weather it is crows , doves or ducks. Its just they way things have worked out.
Now , I have learned my Point Of Aim impact with all three of my 12ga's. At 30 yards they are pretty much on. I was kind of shocked. I figured that I was going to have to change some shims or something. But every shot was at the dot. So now that the paper has been punched and my legs chewed on by fire ants, it is time to really test out the Wad Wizard Choke.
