These shells are imported into the USA by Winchester, they are made in Italy.

The hulls are high brass but it's a 1 1/8th ounce trap load in 7 1/2's.

To my knowledge these are new hulls not antique hulls.

I could be wrong but I think they are more for the shell collector who wants something differen't.

I think some of us will easily live long enough Chip. Bob shoots big numbers over a very short time because he hunts in a place where that can be done. Around here, seacoast NH we sometimes go hours to get a single shot. When the migration is on we hunt all day and do much better. Bob's body counts are impressive, we all wish for days like that. I do remember Bob saying he quit early one day because it was slow and he only shot 79 birds. To me that sounds like if it ain't coming easy he isn't interested or maybe that was the time he hurt is back or arm.

Actually Bob did tell us how much he got out last year as I found a post, he keeps very detailed records too.  If I added right it came to about 55 1/2 hours in the field over 12 days.

http://crowbusters.activeboard.com/t41640813/65-yard-pattern-test-6-vs-75/

Last Fall I got out hunting crows on 63 days and this winter/spring season 24, I didn't keep track of hours but I averaged a 1/2 day each time and thats around  350 hours in the field crow hunting over the last 12 months. How much do you guys get out?

Hello NH,

Those 12 hunts were just a portion of last years hunts, and you are right, thats when I broke my rib and had to quit for a couple of weeks to heal up.

Here are the shoots in order....... 105, 150, 380, 218,79, 375, 711, 834, 273, 119, 51, 287, 183, 294, 64, 589, 280, 233, 67, 170, 74, 207, 161, 151, 100, 247, 87, 85 thats 28 crow hunts this past season. Some were one setup while others were two setups during the day. Our average was 235 crows per shoot.

In 37 seasons I've shot 198,412 hulls on crows alone. My 37 year average under all types of conditions in the field is 70% taking them as they come not just taking gravy shots. 139,390 crows to date.

The day I had to quit we shot 287 crows that morning, Dick Kilbane shot 201 and I shot 86 and had to quit because of the pain.

Looks to be 133 1/2 hours over 28 days.

Now we got to figure out your bird per hour/minute ratio

Bob did you realize in you first 9 shoots where you were hunting alone you were shooting on average better than 1 bird per minute over 55 1/2 hours? Remarkable.

Hi NH,

If a guy gets the right breaks the numbers can add up rather fast.

I would have loved to have read Bert Popowski's stats from back in the 1940's.

The only reason I am differen't than men who have come before me is that I have kept detailed records for so many years. Perhaps it's the german in me liking to save stats.

If you enjoy crunching numbers here is one for you, 9 shoots, 3,125 crows = 347 crows per shoot.

Talk with you soon.

Bob A.

I am another fan of the stats. I created a spreadsheet that tracks the number of birds killed per hunt, avg birds taken per hunt, avg birds taken per hunter, the date, location, and whom I hunted with. It also tells me how much time has passed since I hunted a location the last time. I found that useful so I wouldn't hammer the same place too often.

I have no idea how many I have killed myself. I never tracked it that way. We simply just did our count when we picked all the birds up.

The last season I really got after them was the 2001-2002 season. I got into bowhunting big tme after that season and it really cut down on my crow hunting. Why is it all the fun things always take place at the same time? LOL

Still going to bow hunt this fall, but I am going to work in several crow hunts.

I mainly hunt peanut fields and pecan orchards. My best day was 177. A friend and I caught them hitting a pecan orchard hard and the weather was perfect. Overcast with a light wind. We shot from daylight until about 2:30. Was a great hunt with nice even action. We were using the duck hunting method.

Anyway, I am looking forward to this upcoming season and hope to have lots of great stories to tell.

BTW, I am a fan of the 7 1/2s! LOL
