For you off season pigeon shooters,,,,,,,,,,, check out ureaduck.com and look at the assault pigeon decoy. It has to be instant death. I have 2 of the assault crows. They add that little bit of life and realization to my spread. The way the pigeons come in to my standard pigeon deeks I can only imagine what they would do with these things bouncing and flapping in the barn lot I use a mojo dove with my spread and it drops em right in. You wont be able to shoot them off this deek I bet
Cool I want to try pigeon hunting but none of my buddies are willing to buy deke's or make the drive. You bet as soon as I'm driving and providing the decoys everyone will want in..

Chip,I have Noticed that with my Spinner wing Crow decoys, that the wings make lots of noise for one, and it also doesn't attract crows like I thought, So I removed them....
As they are no go to me on my crow decoys...
think they may work better painted up like a Pigeon wing and placed on one of my foam crow decoys painted white instead of black?
With a hollow pipe so the shaft can spin freely....
Or Should I just save the wings and make some spinner wings out of pop cans or soup cans cut down the center and over lay one edge so it will have two cup shapes facing away from each other and hit them with some gray, white and chrome as eye appeal while spinning for pigeons....
I have always been interested in the www.Ureaduck.com site with them pigeons, yet and www.Soarnomore.com pigeon decoys.
But working at a fur tannery i am on a fixed income, and seldom find much extra to stash away to buy gear.
I Think in some ways we are over hunting a huge farm that has over 120 pigeons at it. As we are allowed to set up only at one spot on the corner of the long barn, and they have been shot at 5 different trips there and seem to circle back just before they get to that corner and land on the tin roof instead...
I Even stepped back from 2 3/4" #7 1/2 shot to some 2 3/4" High brass #4 and #6 shot..... In hopes of hammering into the flocks to drop a few more as they seem higher up now.
Not working out either.
But if I could add some Motion to my set up I think it would be a plus for sure....
If not it gives me more tools for the future to use...

For pigeons, I would paint the wings ..white on one side and brown on the other . Probably paint my decoy brown and white. If you need to make new wings...make them out of coroplast ( the plastic cardboard used on election signs) A dove mojo is made this way, with a 1/8" steel rod for the wing center. The job total would be about $1.97 Good Luck
Thanks alot...The Nephew and I added some gray primer to the foam black crow body, some gray on the wings, and flat white and some Chrome as dots...to the sunlight will grab the attention better as they spin....
I plan to Hunt commen crows with the other 17 decoys till they catch on...and then take the wifes remington 1100 20 gauge to the barn,as I hunt within' a 1/2 mile of these two barns.... Also as I doubt I will have 12 gauge shells left to go after the pigeons with...
So I can get a Mixed bag to take pics of to share with all, and some of where I hunt.....
Scottie you sound like an innovative guy and I like your detrmination as well as your attitude towards trying to improve a situation. First things first. I have never used a spinning wing crow deek, simply because of the negative reviews they have earned from this site. From what I have learned in the field about shooting crows Im glad I saved my money. A flapping decoy is your best bet, but the birds figure them out in late season,Plus I hav yet to find one with a motor in it that will last for me as hard as I hunt If you can, try to get a Jack kite, They seem to be fool proof to me for crows and are cheap and normally last 2 to 3 seasons depending on how you take care of them in the field. If you ever get hold of one let me know and I will give you my recipe for flying it. Pigeons are the dumbest birds I have ever hunted bar none. The place I hunt we dont even hide and burn them every time we go. I rarely go more than once a month. Sounds to me like you may have hunted your spot 5 times too close together. Let it rest!!!! Spread your hunts out. Most people dont know it but pigeons will raise up to nine months out of the year. They have multiple broods and breed like mice I am shooting new birds every trip, some birds are brought in from other places by the flock and some of them are very young even in October. Pigons are also one of the toughest birds I have ever shot. Flock shooting pigeons is basically a waste of ammo. I think any kind of movement while shooting pigeons will help, build any kind of spinning wing thing you want and it will work, Stay away from any chrome or real flashy colors tho, they may flare that. Just space out your shoots and I think you will do much better. You might think about getting hid better also,,, Them Yankee pigeons are probaly a little smarter than these confederate birds I am shooting LOL Enjoy and keep me posted
Chip,Thanks alot for the Detail and comments... I Do have a Goose magnet that I never used as so many tell me they are worthless to geese as they don't like the Movement much at all.. I got it in a trade deal and felt if all Else Fails, It wouldn't look to shabby with some flat black paint and placed near my crow decoys as a Raven...as they don't flap as much as Commen crows, and seem to Flap to get up to the updrafts and just float about in the warm breeze...So they may not be so spooked by it, yet with it's wings out..they may want to fly in and try and drive him away from the rest of the flock of crows on the ground feeding...
Thou it's three times that of a commen crow .... I will give it a try and fill ya's in on my resolts....
I had never checked into the Jack Kites.....
But ya got me wondering,As my older brother was Big into Radio Control Racing 10th scale cars and had atless 13 of them and motors and controllers in his basement from years past....and it helps he is a nerdy type and into tinkering and soildering up stuff ..So we may be able to Mod a hard crow to have a flimsy ,flapper wings on it's back that I can Control with a radio and servo....
Chip and Bob, All was goin' slow today calling in the crows...to hot for even the crows wanting to get worked up for a bird fight..
15 shots and 5 crows.... Dang young eagle flew down on my third bird I dropped that floated till it ran outta steam dead center of the chopped hay field...15 minutes later i noticed a large bird circle the downed bird, and dang it was a site to see that young bald eagle lock wings and float right in near that downed crow.. maybe 20 feet from it...That opened a can a whip ars from other crows in the distance.... as one at a time they flew in,I turned on the crow distress cass. in the truck..and after they chewed the eagle out, they flew over to look over my 8 decoys I had out at the time.... and dropped like the other birds before um' as they flew straight at me and I just poppped um' off... not the shooting that I like, yet still a bird down.
That worked on the last two birds i got... as the eagle didn't leave that dead crow alone, and it helped.....when It settled for awhile I got up and gathered the spent shells, thats when the eagle took flight with one of my dead crows....
So I may have to hunker down on these N.Y. Walmarts before Bob A. takes a Trip back home to stock up on more ammo....
The Pigeon decoy, I didn't get to try out... as I will Listen to my mentours and give that Barn a rest....
The wife seen that Pigeon decoy i built last night and said how much time did ya waste building that stupid thing.... I Laughed and said so It won't work.. She said heck no, I said I only Put 20 minutes into it,And Can't ya tell from my Paint job and detail work..She got such a laugh outta that it was priceless....
She Said just Don't go into Painting cars and such and we should be okay in the future.. lmao...
I Added some Model paint to the neck area.... purple, greens and such Like a normal Pigeons neck....
