9-22-11 Hunt Pics To Share

Shesh, the MI season is almost over and I realized that I have not shared any pics yet this year.  So, I headed out this AM and took a couple pics to share.

I scouted out this chopped corn field yesterday and was glad that the rain held off today so I could hunt it.  The field was only half chopped for silage so the remaining standing corn made a great blind.  I was using my 870 supermag 12ga.  I shot two different loads today.  Load #1: Remington "black beauty" game loads with 1oz of #6's.  Load #2: My personal favorite crow re-load - STS or Nitro hull, 1 oz of #7 shot, a 32 bushing of Promo powder, Claybuster wad, and Federal primer.  Both loads worked fine today...as they do every day.  I used 15 crow decoys.  They were all flambeau's that I flocked myself.  The weather was nice, in the 60's.  The skies were clear building to cloudy.  The wind was good too, maybe a nice 10 MPH breeze.

Here is a pic taken while standing in the corn-row blind:

Here is a pic standing outside the corn and down from the set up:

I used my FX3 with my external speaker and external battery.  I forgot to take a pic before I moved them during the pick up process.  I had them close to the standing corn with the speakers pointed in different directions.

I shot 25 today.  Decent shoot for these parts.  I know the pic says "24" but I did shoot 25.  I had all the decoys put away and the only thing in the field was the "24" carcass pile...well, here came a group of crows so I turned on the caller and I'll be danged if one of 'em didnt come on over for a look at my numerical carcass decoy design.  biggrin

It was a fun hunt and it is always fun to get out after those bandits!

Take care,

BH

Hi Jason,

Nice work and photo's...  We have that same experience when we set-up our pictures and then another crow or two trys (or should I say dies) to take a look.

Regards,
