How many of you guys have one of these??? Winchester Model 1911 S.L. I have had this gun since I was a pre teen. It has a full choke on it and shoots tighter than any shotgun I have ever had. All I can remember about it, is that the old man that gave it to me told me that it saw action in the trenches during WWI. I can only assume that is possible. It would be nice if someone could confirm that...... I haven't shot it in 35 years. It's actually dangerous Notice the hand grip on the barrell, I bet it was hell to load in combat when the bbl was hot!!!!

Yes I have seen one of those It is initially ****ed by pushing the barrel down and the reason for the grip area. It is commonly called the suicide gun, as the practice was to lean over the barrel as one ****ed the action...if (or when) it went off the owner was killed and had no idea just what happened. Not like a pump gun but I suppose it was hard to try and **** it originally like a pump gun and someone tried the bend over routine once too often....and then we have the 1911 suicide special. Like all firearms they are just a implement, when used unsafely they bite the hand that feeds it. Not a very safe design considering what is available today. But as you mentioned you have had it for yrs.....and full auto is not normal for this gun, I am thinking.
If it will empty the magazine when you hold the trigger down make sure you are in compliance with all laws and additional tax regarding Class III firearms. Being caught with an illegal full auto firearm could be a very unpleasant experience.
I haven't hunted with it in at least 35 years. I did look it up tho on the Winchester site. They called them widow makers. The old man that gave it to me when I was about 12 I guess never told me how dangerous it was. I don't see how I managed to survive carrying that thing in the field. I quit using it at 13 when it went off and blew the bill of my cap off. The original owner has been gone for 30 years or better. It is a tight shooter tho that is for sure. The web site I was on said that parts are almost non existant. They were made I think from 1910 to 1925. 85000 of them in 12,20,16,and 28 gage.I may have to sneak it out to the crow hide just one time for good measure...... If I stop posting you will know what happened to me

BATF charges man with illegal full auto weapon on a semi-auto AR-15
The weapon malfunctioned when the man lent it to a friend. The weapon was never converted illegally to full-auto. Now the man has all his weapons taken, is out of the military, and will likely never be able to own a weapon again.
We have a guy a few towns over that had his guns ripped off,the police showed up and saw his reloading setup and charged him with bomb making, took all his stuff and his conceled carry permit.
Reloading is next on thier adgenda,I will try to find the article to post...
