I got a phone call today, it showed up on my phone restricted. Normaly I don't answer those because the dam telemarketers have started thier crap. For some reason I answerewd it and guess who??? It was the game warden for region 5. Now keep in mind I am in my truck scouting and have already logged 60 miles. He introduced himself and was very professional. He advised me (long story short) That there would not be an Illinois crow season this year. He said to his knowledge that I was the only serious crow hunter that he knew in southern Illinois and he wanted me to spread the word to anyone else I knew that hunted in the area. Now first of all I'm not STUPID so don't laugh to hard yet.... I won't tell you all how he baited me into believing him, cause I refuse to give you guy's any good ideas, to jack with me in the next 26 days. Trust me though it was REAL good. At first I was really pissed And then I stopped the truck and almost projectile vomited. Right when I was ready to pull the concealed .380 out of the top of the crack of my butt and put it to my head, he started laughing. I work with a guy that farms a ton of ground that is really good buddies with this guy. I crow hunt on his farms and he flat set me up big time, Dam it was classic. The only thing that would have really sold me down the river would have been if he would have called on my land line at home. The cell phone # made me leery. I knew he had to get it from somebody. I knew it was the game warden cause he had checked me twice last year and I had lengthy conversations with him and I never forget the sound of a mans voice. Man them boys really had me going. My buddy has no idea but he has one commin. It may be 2 weeks or it may be 10 years but I will get him!!!!!! I'm stressed enough cause I'm not seeing the numbers I want Cold blooded is all I can say,,, Cold blooded....................
Last year I shot a duck that is protected. No penalty for shooting it because they look almost the same as one that is legal to kill. (Common Goldeneye, LEGAL, Barrows Goldeneye, PROTECTED) Anyway, I called and left a message with the warden, he called me back later that day and the number came up restricted on my cell phone. SO..... when I first started to read your post, it made sense to me.
