Poor start to a new Season!!!!

I have hunted for 4 days balls out!!!! This time last year I had 275 maybe 300 birds on the counter. My totals are pitiful for the last 4 days. Friday 30 Saturday 23, Sunday 6 and Monday 8no It has been in the 60's down here and the birds are just not here. There isn't a large concentration of birds anywhere around hereno I am hunting local birds that have a good memory and are all mature. I did do something today that made a huge difference in my decoying what few birds I killed tho.... I made a feeding set with Boondockers, aggresive callers and assault crows. The birds came in high and would not get lower than 100 yards. I was on flat ground with no trees. I took my sentry hanger and put a GHG agressive caller on it and hoisted her like the colors of my country and crawled back in the hide and the birds came in much lower and were dumped in the decoys. I also am trying a new choke from Angle porting and its an improved modified. It is deadly I pulled off some amazing back up shots today with the new choke. My jellyhead is upset with me leaving it in the bag. Anything 50 yards and under is smokebiggrinbiggrin Here are a few picks from my outings. The boondockers have prooven worhty in my spread!!!smile Notice the deek on my sentry pole. I didn't think it would work but it brought em down to smokin range, it really made a difference.

Hey it's better than nothing right? at least you get to kill some, If I want birds I have to leave the state, so turn that frown upside down. great pics, especially the second one, it looks like you are surrounded by "cannabis" plants .... nice blind,  the hunting will only get better.

Skip we had an abnormally warm fall. The crow migration was about 10 days later than usual here in NH. Give them some time I believe they will show up.

It is awfully slow here in north Alabama also.  I've had a few good hunts on local birds, but, as of yesterday, our migratory crows are nowhere to be found.  Keeping my fingers crossed that they come down here sooner than later.

Hi Chip,

Very nice looking spread and hide...  We haven't seen any great numbers of migrating crows, yet either.

We have worked over the locals in October to the tune of 524 recovered.

I have placed a order for a pair of Assault Crows and will be looking at those Boondockers, too.  Thanks for the tips!

Regards,

GB    The boondockers are a run and gunners dreambiggrin They are soooo! portable. They set up fast and you can carry 1/2 dozen in your hand. They look great from the air. If I don't get some migrators soon I will turn to drugs and or alcohol for some relief,,,,,I'm not used to this,,,,,,seems as though everybody in the south has the same complaint we will seeno

LOL.

Jon, you beat me to it.

I can tell you this: if I saw Chips jewels I'd be circling at a higher altitude than 100 yards!

Chip, some "well placed" face paint might help conceal your problem.
