Just to show everyone that not everyone in Kansas can shoot like Bob, lol. I hunted a little last year but nothing serious so this was my first so to say serious hunt. 15 isn't many but it is a start and I feel like I learned a lot. I can not seem to find a big concentration of birds so I just run and gun. As the day progressed it seemed easier to get set up and easier to get birds in. I changed calls often till I found the young crow distress worked best.
One stop we turned off the road literally 20' from 3 crows in a field. They flew across the road and watched us park get out and walk down the hedge row. Just standing in the shade full view of them we started calling knowing full well they would not come so we watched the other side of the hedge row. I decided to hit the "come here" call and the 3 that watched us got up and flew straight to us....unreal.
As Honkers said, Ain't nothing wrong with 15. To be able to kill crow like Bob does take years of shotgun practice, scouting, asking permission to hunt, studying, building blinds, and making lots of mistakes and then being willing to correct them. The important thing is to learn from each trip and perfect your setup a little each time.
You live in the land of large crow numbers but that doesn't mean they are easy to kill. The more I learn the less it seams I know. They can really make a fellow look foolish sometimes. Other time it all comes together and the scouting pays off and you get the best of them.
