I live in a northen part of Greece and crow hunting has become my favourite after ducks, and grouse and whenever i want to test new cartidges without wasting birds.
in my country calls are not allowed , so i have to adapt my hunting methods, and rely more on camo and hand made charts with the commuting routes of the crows.
also the only weapons allowed for birds are shotguns and tha means i have to ambush the crows due to short range.
so far the problems are not big
the issue i am dealing is that the crows nest in very high places, chimneys, buildings and sometimes in populated areas where i cant shoot them
i was wondering if i could bait them with some kind of food , to make them come in range and how this could be done
i am currently hunting with both semi and double b. , with the fisrt better for hunting crows in fields due the increased firepower and the latter better in closer ranges and fast shots.
That would make for a tough hunt with all the restrictions. I also don't see how you own voice could be illegal. Good luck it sounds like you have your work cut out.
thanks everyone for the replies yes only electronic calls are illegal forgot to say that bird decoys are also illegal stupid laws of my country for no reason
hand calling is no so bad and i've used it in the past but it is not a method to make high numbers in crows so it would be good if i could substitute the bird decoys with something else to make the hunt more 'profitable' thanks again
hehehe that's right 3'' is very powerfull , i was expecting them to come high sky, but this one came close and the 3'' destroyed him... i got 4days off now, and i am gonig to test some hand calls , with some friends anyone know if the dead birds may act as decoys??? because i think they sometimes do, if that works i wont pick up the deads until the hunt is over i remember a one day when i shot one and all the other came by to see what knocked him down , and of cousre they died with him.... do you use disperser shots for close range?? thnks again all the people
Those crows in Greece look a lot like our Magpies in the USA.
If they caw like a common crow does here in the states then you should be able to call them with a hand held crow call. The Crowmart Store right here at Crow Busters carries the best crow calls on the market today, bar none.
I've had some very good shoots with just a hand call. Crowmart sells instructional crow calling cd's if you want to learn how to use a hand held crow call.

I would try open fields with decoys. Maybe the decks will help you get more birds in range.
Also, I have called a many a crow to his death simply using my own mouth to call. Learn how to do it. Surely, that wouldn't be illegal.
There have been many times when after hearing and seeing us shoot, other crows will hang back and not come in even for my FoxPro e-caller. BUT, after a few "CAWS" using my own voice, they'll come in.
