---Gordon, feel free to remove pic if you feel its too graphic.---
After an unsuccessful series of predator calling stands, I found myself being overrun by crows. I went to work with the only tool I had. Not a huge bag of birds, but it certainly was fun hearing those bullets whack them. I killed 7 total, but couldn't recover 1.
The second pic was the previous day's predator success.
The horror! The horror! Gotta love pink steam. TM did you use your FoxPro to fire up the crow's, then zap them when they tire and perch on a branch or the like? Well done

NICE kitty cat Matt!! I wish we could hunt them here but our population is way too low for that. Looks like a big old coon too. Nicely done as well. And those crows!! Well what can I say other than OH YEAH!!

Ted, the crows were mobing an owl that had snatch one of their brothers, so they were worked up into a frenzy before I ever started calling. I simply found the tallest barren tree I could find, and stood under it, playing death cry of a crow. They came in, and lit in the top of the tree. That allowed me to shoot straight up, minimizing the risk of bullets zinging off into the distance.
If I would have had my 17HMR, I think I could have killed 10-12, since some landed in trees that were not directly overhead. I passed on those shots.

Thanks Glen,
They are tough critters to hunt. They are plentiful here, but sightings are few and far between. I've been hunting for 20+ years, and have seen fewer than 10 live bobcats in that time period, I fired on 3 of those, and recovered 2.
And yes, that is a huge raccoon by our standards. The coons harvested by the TCP lately have been averaging about 14 pounds, this one was closer to 20. Unfortunately, I didn't have the fish scale with me this time.
Thats fine Matt. I'm sure we can all handle a little blood.
Nice bobcat. I'm bringing my nephew out your way in a few weeks for a couple of nights of predator hunting using night vision on an AR platform. He is joining the Marine Corp and I promised him this trip as a going away gift. Not sure what ranches we are hunting, but we are going to be within 2 hours of Midland. Anyway, bobcat is on my A list to take.
The part of the state that you are visiting is overrun with critters. I'm confident that you and your son will have plenty of targets. Gadget Bob and I hope to hunt out there at some point, but the stars just haven't aligned for us yet.
Good luck, and a big thanks to your son for joining the marines.
Yes, as Gadget Bob mentioned, the AR is .223 caliber, the bolt gun is a .308 Winchester. The suppressor is 7.62mm, so it will handle either. I also shoot my 17HMR through it.
