Noah and I went for a short hunt yesterday morning and ended the year with a 46. We had one bird come in making a funny sound with something in its mouth. It was an unopened McDonald's ketchup package. The funny thing is the closest McDonalds is about 20 miles away. I am sure it picked it up from the side of the road but it was neat to see.

This spot is our old home place where Noah and I hunted once last year. On that hunt we killed 24. It is cool to see how many more bird were killed this year over last year. I believe the difference was the thousands of shells shot a sporting clays, better blinds, better setup, better caller and better decoys. Our total doubled with the improvements. May be next year they will double again.

Greg, I like the sentry decoys you have up there!  Well placed and, I'm sure, very effective.

Were the crows you shot coming in with wings set, flaps down and at minimal air speed?

Oh yeah! One tried to stop in mid air like a humming bird to check out the decoys and dead birds. That did not work well for it. Missed several that were too close. Had one that was so close I think the shot string passed between its body and wing. The follow up shot hit it so hard it didn't even look like a bird as it was falling. Talk about a CLOUD or feathers! With these blinds they have no idea you are even in the area.

I made a "Happy Meal" for crows with a McDonald's bag, 1/4 pounder box, large fries box with wooden fries, and a crushed coke cup with straw all glued to a piece of cardboard. Can't say it's worked yet, but I am basing it on the belief that they all know what it is!! If nothing else, it's pretty funny!

I bet it works just fine. Put several decoys around it and game on. I don't think there is a crow in the world that hasn't fought over a fry box on the side of the road.

Yep that crow had one last "Happy Meal".biggrin

If I were on death row, y'all gonna have to do better than Micky-D's!smile

Ive never figured out why McD's ketchup is called "fancy."

How the H does a half mouthful of ketchup served up in a tear-open plastic container classify as "fancy?"

When they deliver it via Carrier Crow in is most certainly not "plain" ketchup. That makes it "fancy"biggrin.

I got my butt chewed out by skeetshooter for not mentioning the most important part of the improvement... that would be "his" tutelage and the use of "his" Boondockers.

So here you go Skeet... I am completely and utterly blaming YOU for the insanity that has encapsulated my household  since YOU introduced me to crow hunting a little over a year ago. The thousands of dollars spent and the HUNDREDS of pounds of lead sprayed into the air in pursuit of this nonsense is ALL your fault also. LOL biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Hows that for an acknowledgement?biggrinbiggrin
