Picked up my "new" double barrel last night at Cabelas. It patterned beautifully using my favorite load of #7 & 1/2s.
Took my dog Weasel and the Nitro Special across the road and chased the rabbits. I got one at about 15 yards with the modified barrel. The other I hit at about 35-40 yards with the full choked barrel.
Made my whole day, always wanted a side by side and to get 2 rabbits with it 1 day after buying it, sa-weet. Now I just need crow season to get here.

Nice ! ur gona love that nitro, they're a sweet old double. Theres a couple of sites where you can tell year of manufacture by serial number, theres also a lefever forum. My 20 ga is a 1923 & the 16 is 1936. Good luck with ur new toy. Love the black & white pic.

Nice, yes I've been on the website. My Nitro is a 1927.
A friend has a 12 ga nitro for sale. 28" barrels, IC/IC. He's asking $300. I would love to have it to use for skeet.
BTW- I like the blk/wht photo too, but I don't know why it came out in blk/wht instead of color. I took it with my phone and don't remember changing anything.

These pictures made me want to go hunt rabbit so bad, but my alarm never went off this morning...
What state are you in Gillespie? You hunting Cottontails?
When I want to get up to hunt or something else really important, I set my regular alarm clock as well as my cell phone to go off. That way, even if I lose electricity at the house, I still have something to wake me up.
In the old days before cell phone alarms, I used to use an old wind up alarm clock as well as the electric one.
Kev, great avatar ! If you can, I'd grab that 12ga, I don't think they made many in i/c, I wonder if someone had it opened up ? Would make a great partridge gun. My son & I got a couple of cottontails yesterday, great spot just could'nt seem to kick them up. Your pics make me want to get up in the Adirondacks for some snowshoes. Jerry
