Hey guys I just joined the board after spending a couple weeks here just looking around. I first started crow hunting about 3 months ago because my friend said it is a fun thing to do over the winter and well now im hooked lol.
Ok from reading these forums and basically just going out there and experimenting Ive figured out the right way to set up the decoys (I use 12) but i decided to purchase one of those wounded woopecker motion decoys to see if that would help out. I just need some suggestions as to where I should put it. We use an owl decoy so i just assumed to put the motion decoy like a yard above the owl to simulate a fight. Im not sure if that is where you are supposed to put it or if youre just supposed to put it on a 5ft stick in the open or to put it with the other decoys. If any of you guys know the best way to place a motion crow decoy I would love to know!
-Glad to be aboard, thanks!

Put the motion decoy in a position that takes their eyes away from the blind. If you use a Mojo/spinner put it just inside the treeline so they can see something moving but not see it clearly.

When I had my Buster, it pretty much worked where ever I put. Just the motion itself drew the attention of the crows on their way to the calling sounds.
Surprisingly we've had pretty good luck with the owl but now the crows are learning not to swoop in and just sit in the trees far away or just fly by. I think they are used to the electronic call so i got a regular call and a motion deke to see if that would help

Not many use a owl. Some of those that do put the motion dec in the talons of the owl.
Owl deeks only effective in the spring and early summer breeding season IMO. I have deployed them effectively for decades, but only during the aforementioned time frame. A motion deek would be and asset coupled with the owl but I would think this would be a rather cumbersome set up. I just use dead crows, bust both of wings so as they dangle and move with the breeze, attatch with a fish hook to the base.
