I have a battery powered robo duck that I don't use anymore as the duck hunting just does not appeal to me now that I have started to archry hunt for deer and that seems to take up any time I have for hunting in the fall. My question is how effective do you think it would be if I were to paint it black (perhaps flock it), and change the head from another crow decoy. I do have a spinning wing crow decoy that is powered by wind that is the same size as the robo duck but that just sits motionless more times then not. Is it worth the effort or should I just get off my wallet and buy a real one. Any tips on how to make this work better are always appreciated.
The spinning wing isn't as good as a flapper in my opinion, but I have a crow-spinner that is wind powered that works well sometimes. I put it on an old aluminum arrow shaft so it's only 2 feet off the ground. While run/gun we have used just this one decoy with the FoxPro and it has worked well.
I have modified my mojo dove -- made it black with stick on felt and painted the wings black except painted half of one side of the wings white for some contrast while spinning. Want to try it out soon. I bought it because I saw some guys crushing crows with a plain mojo dove last year. I'll let you know how that works. Generally, I really suck at crow hunting but it's still fun.
One of the guys I hunt with has the Mojo Crow and we do a thousand times better with it than we do with my buster II. In fact last time out the mojo attracted a hawk that dive bombed it and broke one of the mojo's wings off.

Too bad you didn't get that on video, that would have been cool to watch.
