i didn't kill a buck the last couple seasons, so i felt like i had some extra money for the taxidermy department. i decided to have a crow done to sit on my shed fence. i got him mounted in a hollering position. i think it turned out nice.
i've been called stupid, and worse, for spending what i did on it. my taxi is a waterfowl guy, so he gets good money. it was $200. what the heck, it's only money right? i can always make more

I am not sure what goes into skinning and stretching a crow, but I am thinking $200 is not a bad price for the time it takes. Beautiful Mount you have there.

I'm just starting out in amateur taxidermy....did 3 copperheads and did my first crow a couple months ago - I can honestly say that I am pretty happy the way things have turned out so far. If I can ever figure out how to do it I'll post some pictures. A crow would take a pro less time than the (approx.) 9 hours that it took me but $200.00 sounds pretty reasonable to me - there are materials (about $35.00 for body and skull with eyes plus some "consummables"), tools and training that go into it in addition to the skill of the guy doing the work. If anyone wants to try it just about everything in the world of Taxidermy is available from an outfit called WASCO - I am not at all skilled in anything "artsy" so if I can do it ......... It's worth it just to see your wife's reaction when you hang a crow on the wall - my wife is a saint for putting up with all the stuff that she has had to deal with over the years.
I have always wanted to try to do taxidermy. Maybe a crow would be a good place to start.
Website for WASCO supplies; http://www.taxidermy.com/
Here's a photo from their website. Pretty cool crow and fox mount.

I remember 35 years ago I had a Mallard Drake mounted ,it looked great and cost me $40 Yours looks Great as well and I dont think $200 at todays prices is bad at all. 5 years ago I had a Red Fox done and it didn't turn out as good as your Crow and it was $425. Well done!! Every time you look at the Crow that Hunt will replay in your mind. Priceless!!
