Well, I've been really struggling to shoot any crows.  Went out with my sons this weekend - which was awsome for me in itself.  We had some action and got a couple, but something is not right.

Besides the fact that there are not big numbers (hundreds) of crows, we should still be taking at least a dozen or so.

I have 6 decoys on the ground, 3 in trees, plus motion of triple play and mojo.  Also have Buster II and an owl but did not use.

Have listened to Bob's calling CD about 30 times through, have a Gibson and several other hand calls.  My e-caller is homemade with Radio Shack mini amp and horn.

I am thinking my e-caller needs a serious upgrade -- it's ok but volume and clarity suffer.  Do you think crows are shy of the caller?

Thanks - Jerry

They can definitely get call shy with e-callers.

How well hidden are you? Also, are your boys sitting absolutely still without looking up when crows are coming in?

Using face-paint or face masks? The best thing I ever did was use a face net that covers from the bottom of my eyes on down, with a hat pulled down to the tops of my eyes. This allows me to look straight up without a white face spooking the crows.

Rook; we've struggled all year around the Albany area. Places we've always had good numbers of birds are just not producing numbers this year. Got into them real good in a corn field 2 weeks ago, decoying birds the whole time we were out, tried it again this weekend, blind & dekes in different area & got zip. Mile square area & no one else is hunting it, don't get it. Keep blaming it on the screwy winter, but I think some of it must be me. Jerry

This last time I went I got a few with small groups. But I was hide to good and had tough shots in trees. Than what I did hit went in tall bruchs on side of hill. Didn't get to pick them up for pictures. I think I will take picture of land where I do hunt. Now I would say what I use but may stir up shot size lol. Well I use a Benelli 20 Super Nova full choke no 5 shot 11/4 load. They was up there but left 12ga home. But take note reloads from squirrel hunting. Most time this late of session I take 12ga imp mod 7 1/2 shot. Early season use 20ga with 8 shot. I do take exta choke with me depends on cover. Use mod or full choke. This season about over with hear in Kentucky, last of this month , than back in Sept. Well hope u have better luck next trip :)
