Well guys your tips worked out great! This was our first time entering a crow hunt and we grabbed first place today! We never thought we would of got what we did half the day was whiteouts in the field from the 30 mph winds we couldent see 40 yds infront of us half the time! some how we mannaged to knock um down! Thanks again to everyone from my previous post!!
Good job today guys.............it was purely miserable out there.......I couldn't even get the crows to fly..........I knew where they were, but they were content just holing up on the ground as bad as the wind was......looks like we have some new competition for these hunts.....
Hey Thanks! Ya if we didnt have a blind we never would of made it that wind was just terrible. heres a weird one.We shot a crow today it was a scout of a group of about 13 took them probably 2 mins to come 100 yds in to us because of the wind. When we shot the scout the crows took off but flew over to the trees about 200 yds to our left. For some reason they kept coming back to that scout we shot and calling like crazy. we ended up picking up 3 kills from that group not counting there scout. We have only been hunting crows for a short time but never seen anything like that usually you shoot one and there all gone its like he was there leader or something! ever have that happen?
Yea, we can usually pick off 5-10, sometimes 20 crows out of one group......they come in one or two at a time...........I prefer it that way....it last longer at eeach place.....

I have seen fish crows do what you described. They don't like to leave a downed comrade. Sometimes you have to turn the caller off just to get them to leave after they climb to high to shoot.
If the crows don't know where the shots came from they will often come back.
Congrats on a great hunt and first place!!

Congrats on winning, nice picture and a good memory I am sure. Seems the high winds were all over the east coast yesterday and today, gusts over 40mph here in NH. Dead crows are some of the best decoys. I am guessing the high winds may have muffled the report of your shotguns and the other crows did not see you so their curiosity brought them back.
