I was out hunting last week, only had a couple decoys with me. I needed some more, so I was attempting to prop up some of the dead crows on the corn stalks that are sticking out of the snow.
That didn't look very realistic, so it got me to thinking that I needed to keep some stiff wire in my ammo bucket to prop them up better. Then THAT got me to thinking maybe a stick would work.
So, after a few minutes of cutting some green maple sticks, (much the same as you would cut one for roasting marshmallows) I had my decoy made. I thought they looked pretty good. I sharpened the small end of the stick, shoved it up the cloaka, and threaded it up the neck and into the skull. Once I had the stick cut, it took about 30 seconds to put one end in the crow and the other end in the snow. I had 4 like this and the live crows loved it! Hehehee (evil giggle)
