Howdy, Folks- I have only recently started entertaining the crows, God love 'em.....I have also recently started dabbling in taxidermy, so it only seemed natural to try mounting a crow. My man Mainehunt asked that I post a picture of my first try, so I will......I have a second one that is still drying which promises to be much nicer - I will put it up when I can......
If you want to mess around with that a bit then try making some feather decoys out of killed crows. Stretch the skin over a foam body like typical taxidermy but don't worry about the legs, just cut them off. Details not too important but the glass eyes are nice. Drill a hole through the foam body so that a branch can fit through. Bend down a small tree and fit a top branch through the hole. When the sapling is straightened back up into it's natural position you will have a fine decoy...no flocking required!
Can be designed on a stake to sit on a fence post or ground if ya like. I made some of these years back when I was in High School. Used them a fair bit but they eventually got pretty beat up. The old man tossed them from his garage many years ago I think.
