I took my son to the local park/playground in hopes to wear him down into nap mode. While at the park two crows flew over my head and I immediately threw up my arms as if I was hold my 12ga and yelled bang…jacked another and yelled bang again. A lady standing near me asked if I was OK and I told yep...I got them both.
What I'd like to know, is this a normal reaction right after the closing of the crow season?
Nope. It doesn't happen just after season, but all year long. You would think that people like that lady would have a better understanding of the withdrawal symptoms of serious crow hunters. I think we need a new sensitivity training program. She was out of line and that kind of behavior should not be tolerated. She should be reprogrammed.

In this odd age I don't know if I would be too quick to act out shooting fantasies in public. I know we want to get all we can but it is my opinion that the less we publicize our fun hobby the better off we will will. A lot of civilians think shooting crows is weird and no amount of explaining will convince them otherwise. This thought could also extend to teaching other hunters how to do what we do. It has taken us years. lots of mileage , effort, and many shells to get where we are. If one persists in doing this one might get to a favorite blind and find them in it.
I read the first couple of post to my dear wife and got fussed at. She said she has been startled into running of the road on many occasions by MY children yelling "CROW"... "BANG"!!!!

My one and a half year old son went "Craw! Craw! Bang!" the other day! And I SWEAR, I never showed him!
Good instincts I suppose :) Good thing it was in season :)
I've got my oldest son looking for crows and finger shooting them now. The last one he shot and I asked, did you give him the right lead? and he laughed saying, you know it! Just from that one hunt he's now into it.
My son, who is 8yrs old now, has been crow hunting with me since he was 4. He's old enough now that he runs the caller and I get to shoot without haveing to switch sounds sfter my first shot. But whenever we head down the road to go anywhere he's always shouting CROW...BANG,BANG! it's awesome BUT he needs to start getting them with the first shot!! LOL!
My wife is always picking on me. It seems if I am in the woods I am looking for the perfect location and tree to climb for a bow hunt. If I am in farm country, I am looking for a great spot to set up my blind and hunt crows. Pratice makes perfect! LOL

That's a natural part of being a hunter....we hunt so therefore we are always looking for an edge up on the prey
I get crap from my wife when a 1/4 mile drive to the bank drive thru turns into a 12 mile trip around the out skirts of town checking for deer, turkeys and now crows.
I am always looking for crows and trying to figure out flyways and feeding areas but all I get from NO CROW HUNTING friends is WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU WANT TO SHOOT A CROW?, THEY ARE DUMP PICKERS!
I'm always doing it wether it be crows, birds or deer, woodchucks by the highway.YOU EITHER HAVE IT OR YOU DON'T!! There is no "VACINATION FOR IT!! JUST MORE CROWS(targets of any kind!!)
