RE: Painting a Mojo Dove Black

The Mojo company built and sold a Mojo crow for many years. They sometimes work and sometimes don't. Crows are more curious or fooled by flapping wing decoys rather than spinners. If you use a spinner I think it's best to put at the edge of the woods or fencerow etc so they can see the movement near static decoys but can't quite make out the details.

Hey Jason,

I agree with Pete...  Flapping action beats spinning in our experience.

I have painted the various Edge Expedite "flapping" woodpecker and dove decoys with Krylon Fusion "Ultra Flat Black" paint to good effect for crows.

Regards,

GB, Krylon Fusion "Ultra Flat Black" or Krlyon Fusion "Satin Black" I am torn between the two. The Satin provides a slight shine and as you know real crows can "shine" in the sun.

From an older thread:

Satin Black, from holding a dead crow against three different painted decoys, here is what I came up with. Bar none , flocking is the way to go. Flat Black absorbs all light . Gloss acts like a mirror in sunlight. Satin was the one for me that came the closest to matching the color.

well try one for a few hunts, then repaint with the other and try that for a few hunts and see which one works the best. I'd say they probably both work well.
